Contained in a brief review of Sharon Pollock's play on the Borden murders this striking photo shows the actress Susan Forrest as Lizzie:

I believe it was a 2003 production in California.

Wow! Terrific photo, Harry! I like the way they use the hatchet to cover half the face in the same way the case and her character are half hidden. Nice review too. Does anyone here know her? Anyone see it or know the premise? It looks very intriguing!

She is very pretty and looks about 22.
If Lizzie had looked like that at 22 she might have become an old married lady with kids.
Can you imagine Lizzie with kids?
That looks like a lathing or a barral hatchet- see Flynn's "Mysterious Axe".
Thanks Har!
So THAT'S what a "lathing hatchet" looks like!!!
Reading "American History" about King Phillip's war (he lived at Montobe = Mount Hope) they mentioned that settlers should be armed with a tomahawk or lathing hatchet.
Still an effective weapon for close action?
...
The cutting edge looks like about two inches wide.

I was interested to see a review of "night mother" as well on this page.
I have that movie on VHS. It has Anne Bancroft and Sissy Spacek in it and it is a very good movie. I have never talked to another person who actually liked it! I liked it very much. I was more on the "edge of my seat" during this movie than any other movie I can recall!
Thanks for the article. I would assume an 18" to 24" handle would be best for a tomahawk. I could also be used as a knife for cutting.

I find her eyes similar in color to what Lizzie's may have looked like.
