Stef just returned a video tape to me that had the A&E Biography hour program on Lizzie. I watched it Monday night (again).
Commentators are:
HELEN PIERCE--who says Lizzie was "middle-aged". I suppose in 1892, 32 might BE middle-aged--at least 64 was IT for Abby!
JULES RYCKEBUSCH--who describes Lizzie as "neglected as a child...not normal, pecular, odd." AND recounts shoplifting story from" McCords Department store."
MICHAEL MARTINS--who says, "If Lizzie didn't do it, she knew who DID."
BARBARA ASHTON
PAULA RASKIN
THE NARRATOR--says Emma testified she "watched" as Lizzie burned a dress, "at her suggestion." And that Bathseba Spooner was the last female hanged in MA, and she was pregnant--and that if Lizzie were convicted there was a "mandatory penalty of death by hanging." etc...
There is a photo of a young Lizzie I don't think I've seen in books.
If this is the same Biography, it's about, what, 5 years old or more? Some of these people interviewed may even wish to change their comments by now...(how did this get HERE? This was my ending paragraph??!!) Oh, well.
ED THIBAULT--says there was "no love lost" between Lizzie and Abby; "It was hatred...pure hatred."
JOHN CORRIGAN (Attny.)--Says the authorities "exhumed" the bodies.

LOL. I hadnt seen it in over 5 years, so it was a strange and interesting experience. One's knowledge, opinions and ideas on the case evolve and expand with time.
My dad, who knew nothing about Lizzie, phoned me up after and said: "she did it!"

GIGO - "garbage in, garbage out". Your conclusion is based on the (biased) facts you read or hear.
In 1893 or 2000 the real and moot jury said "not guilty".
