1. "Bridget Bought the Farm??"

In the article Harry posted on the "Anything Happening on August 4" thread, it says that Bridget bought her parents a farm in Ireland eight years after the murders.  That'd be 1900, or if they meant 8 years after the trial ended, 1901.

That's the first I ever heard of this.  Anyone have any info on it?

People said that Bridget was paid off to leave the country. She went back to Ireland, and bought her parents a farm.

Is there ANY documentary facts for this rumor? Or is it just wishful thinking of those who want to convict Lizzie? Those who have the Rebello Encyclopedia can look it up. I think it is likely, but have no proof (other than many say it is true).

I haven't seen anything concrete in Rebello's book.  I had heard she went back to Ireland (paid by Lizzie) and Jennings told her never to come back to the United States.  I never saw any proof of that.  But I never heard she bought her parents a farm.

I was wondering if Lizzie paid off ANYBODY, wouldn't there be some sort of fiscal documentation?
She just can't remove thousands of dollars from an account without someone knowing about it and asking questions.
Wouldn't the police, and authorities, if they really were in charge of what happened in that town, be watching for large cash or property movements, even AFTER the acquittal?

The only big money movement I could pinpoint in Rebello was the Title exchange of Second Street for "$1 and other valuable considerations", by the girls to John Dunn, but that was not until 1918, and seemed to be an old Borden habit.
