OK, this sounds awfully fishy to me.  On a school vacation? Unless she was visiting someone who was a carrier, this seems very remote.  As far as I know, we're over the worst of the hump & have it contained.

What school would send a bunch of kids to a city with an outbreak?  Unless this supposedly occurred before the news broke?

BTW, I have a friend who works @ one of the hospitals where a portion was quarantined.  He's perfectly fine.

We have a young child here with SARS. He also went to Toronto on vacation they say. Just came back. The news said he is "recovering at home". ????

Exactly where did people take these children when they came here??  This all sounds quite strange.  I wonder if children are particularly susceptible; altho I haven't heard of many children here who contracted it.  Certainly hope they all recover!

"Recovering @ home" -- I agree, that sounds just plain stupid.  Perhaps there's a point where they're no longer contagious?

1 of my co-workers just returned from Fla -- no one asked him any questions or gave him any delay entering the US.  I was really surprised @ that!

There was also an adoptive baby from China here who was diagnosed as well.  She was treated for like 3 days in hospital then released to go home.

What they do  is send them home for aftercare and quarantine.
Apparently the idea is It's easier to quarentine a home and family and finish treating there than quarantining a whole hospital and it's emergency room.

I'm happy to announce that as of today, World Health Org has taken Toronto OFF the SARS list.  No new cases in the past 20 days.

In support, Mick & the boys (yes, The Stones!) may be coming here to kick off our spring into summer.  (They love it here).  Makes up for the many artists who cancelled concerts in the past month or so.

AND -- just in time for y'all to head up here & catch Emma's performance as Lizzie next week.

Hey good news Tina-Kate!

Not that it isn't serious but I think the media has blown this up way out of proportion to its numbers.  Although I guess if I was one that had it I might not think so.

I love the idea of an Emma playing Lizzie.  I once did a morph of two photos, Emma and Lizzie, with Emma changing into Lizzie. I was surprised at how easily the two pictures morphed together facially.

You're right Harry.  I've heard the media in the US esp showed only pics here of people wearing masks, etc.  I live & work in downtown west & did not see a single face mask!  We had several health care centres quarantined.  There were a few idiotic breeches (like an infected doctor who attended a funeral, thus causing an entire church full of people to go into quarantine).  Otherwise, it was very small & well contained.

I'm hoping to go see Emma play Lizzie next week.  I've been wanting to see "Blood Relations" for a while now.

Do we get to see yr morphing experiment??
