1. "Stefani's Movies"

i've been watching these over and over again. the soundtracks are especially suggestive for an axe-wielding lizzie mood. really effective, i wonder where they came from. anyway, what i wanted to say is that they are very helpful with visualization of what went on that day. i am beginning to get a clear sense of the whole layout. for example, i did not have it quite right how the door from the foyer to the sitting room is right next to a door to the parlor which is right next to the door to the dining room. the couch in the sitting room is as it was -- pushed to the left. why did they place it so? two possible reasons? that at the time, the door to the kitchen opened into the sitting room (it doesn't appear to do so now)? so the door would not bump into the couch? or did they keep a space to the right of the sofa in case their company needed an extra chair they could bring in from the kitchen? just wondered. and apparently they have restored the house to an uncanny degree in duplicating the patterns in the wallpaper and carpets. this victorian style of decorating seems to be about accumulating as many different patterns as possible. someone, i think it was bowen, referred to it as the "usual vulgar style." myself, i've always liked this style; it makes a room seem comfortable. i had a girlfriend who made a whole wall shelving and crowded with picture frames and ornaments, and she said, that was victorian. the victorian style then, is about cramming variety? i'm getting into aesthetics here, but that does seem to be part-in-parcel with fascination about the murders, doesn't it? you're on the brink of the modern era, but the past still lurks like ghosts and phantoms.

That's a nice post.
Thanks for that.
The photo's also that have been contributed to the Museum/Library are an extra help. I didn't realize that closet door in the sitting room under the stairs was shown by John Clark until I went looking to try to answer nj.
I have this sneaking suspicion that the B&B looks much nicer than when the Borden's had it but I don't know why...

I think the kitchen looks all wrong -- it seems like it
doesn't match the rest of the house. It really seems
like it should be all white & it mostly looks like a 60's
or 70's kitchen re-do.

They are on the web site. They are quicktime movies. You need a free quicktime player to watch them. If you don't have quicktime, there is a link there to get the free player.
Here is the link. I took home movies of a visit I made in 1997 and took out the sound, edited them, slowed them down, and made several mini tours. I hope you like them and find them helpful.

Do you want them on a disk that you can use on a newer computer? I could send them to you if you like.
Also, thanks for all the kind words haulover! I forgot to tell you how happy
you made me with your post!

Thank you Stefani, I was thinking I could look at it next
time I go to my son's house on his fancy computer. Can I check
into this site from another computer? I'm hoping I can do it that
way?

I aim to please!
If you ever have any suggestions, you haulover, or anyone, I am totally open to ideas for making the site better and better.
Right now I need somebody to tell me they are going to the Planning Board meeting in Fall River on Thursday night and will report back the details.
