I just got back from seeing the new documentary on the Titanic, in 3-D. It was very good. We thought we were going to the IMAX version, but we went to a regular screen size show with the 3D. It was worth the 10 bucks.

And by the way, today is the 91st anniversary of the sinking. I didn't remember that until I saw the film. And we just happened to go!

I seem to recall that we have something like that out here in California, James Cameron's Titanic Revisited, but, its supposed to be 4-D, a total immersion version somehow or another.  I've been to something like that where your seat vibrates and they mist you with water and such, really cool stuff!

Odd coincedence, I'm currently reading the biography of writer, Dorothy Parker, and she lost an uncle on the Titanic, her aunt survived the sinking.

April 14th is also the anniversary of the Lincoln assassination at Ford's theater in 1865 by the actor John Wilkes Booth.

Lincoln died the following day.

what a coincidence, I'm also a huge Dorothy Parker fan!  I
wish she wrote more books, I have collected all of her
writings.  Susan are you reading the Marion Meade book?

Ooooo, I'm sorry, Kash and NJ, I brought it back to library yesterday and I'm drawing a blank on who wrote it?  There is a black and white photo of Dorothy on the cover wearing a hat, a cloche I believe.

I have read some of her work and love her skillful way with words, but, what prompted me to get her biography was a TV show that I watch, one of my favorites, The Gilmore Girls.  Each episode ends with this little cartoon drawing of a woman from the back with smoke from her cigarette forming the words, Dorothy Parker Drank Here.  I believe the writers of the show are paying homage to her, some of what goes on in the show could be likened to Dorothy's writings and the quick and snappy wit and repartee are wonderful.

But, anyhoo, if you'd like, next time I go to the library I will check to see who the author was.  Oh, and see if they have any more of Dorothy's work.  What a fascinating life this woman had!

I'm sure it was "What Fresh Hell Is This? by Marion Meade,
it has a black and white picture on cover!

Many thanks, Susan and Nj! I will keep an eye out for the book.
Hey! Looks like I'm gonna be doing the lecture again in June! I've decided to have my friend, who does flower arrangments, do a big Victorian arrangement of pansies and yellow roses for the occasion.

Ding-ding-ding-ding-ding!  Thats it, NJ!  You win the Kewpie doll!  I loved that line of Dorothy's so much I was using it at work every time the phone rang like she did.    You'll have to excuse me, but, this poor girl has been brain dead at the end of the day.  5 hours of sleep and having a big name client who expects us to jump through hoops has just put me through the wringer!

Thats great, Kash!  Like the idea for the big flower arrangement.  Kind of made me wonder if Lizzie had a favorite scent of cologne or perfume that she was partial to using?

Yes I love that line too and say it all the time. I have a poster
of Dorothy saying the words "I require only three things of
a man. He must be handsome, ruthless and stupid".
The flower arrangement sounds nice K pansies and roses, how
beautiful.

I love that, NJ!    It did make me think of the man that poor woman was stuck with for how many years.  Yikes!  Wouldn't you have loved to be privy to those Round Table lunchs?

One of the writers at the Round Table was Alexander Woollcott who
was a Lizzie Buff and wrote about the case, cool that they
were probably talking about our Lizzie at the famous Round Table
at the Algonquin Hotel!

Yes, the "Gonk".  I wonder if it is still standing?  It would be cool to visit and see where they all actually sat.  I love that kind of stuff!

I would too, I don't live that far but I haven't gotten there
yet, only been back in the area a few years and when I've gone
to the big city it is for a specific purpose like I was a
chaperone for my neices school trip ... but I really want
to go to the algonquin!

You're welcome, NJ.  I love that they have recordings there of Dorothy reading her own material, boy, what a rough voice.
