Of course the maid said she did this and did that window, but did any of the investigators check to see what windows were actually clean ?
You dont have to have it perfect but washed as best as possible with the tools that she had.
Reality is, that you do have some witnesses that saw the maid washing windows on the outside but how about the inside - nobody knows what happened - nobody knows if she went upstairs for sure - I think she did. But again you only have the 2 of them in the house. Basically all morning - till AJ got home at about 1040 or so.

I've never understood why Bridget wasn't a person of interest or a subject like Lizzie. Bridget's alibi should not have been enough to protect her, especially since there's no indication that anyone checked to see that the windows were actually cleaned. Perhaps what we don't know is that she was offered a plea deal to testify for the prosecution...
Who knows but there is that story going around that I tend to believe because I have heard it from 3 sources already - Apparently when she was old and contracted pneumonia she called her friend - I believe the name is Green and told her that she wanted to say something to her about the Borden case because she felt as if she was going to die. It turns out that Bridget survived the sickness and when her friend got there Bridget did not want to tell her anymore. I guess nobody will ever know.
You can stop wondering why Lizzie was aquitted...

Bridget was told to wash the windows, and in the interrogation in court she testified that she washed the first floor inside and out why did she not wash the second floor inside? Being a servant she was supposed to do this I'm thinking, because the fact that she did the first floor inside and out as it is proper to do so and she washed the second floor windows outside why had she not gone and done the insides as she had the others? Had she done so she would've found Mrs. Borden in the guest room long before the second murder. Could've even prevented the second murder.
Good point. I see her as recovering from being sick and doing any more work on that day would be a bit too much, as she had to lie down because she wasn't feeling well. Plus although it would be nice to wash the insides she did not even get a chance to finish the first floor.
Yes. I thought I had read she had not finished the first floor and her feeling sick and lying down made sense she did not finish but I still occurred to me. I wonder if it occurred to her she would have found Abby had she not been sick and had been able to do the inside windows on the second floor and prevented his murder. I wonder if that bothered her the rest of her life. It would me.
For sure if she did the first floors in and out she could have started the second floor. I wonder how long it would have taken her to do the first floors in and out though. That house had a lot of windows. And if she did find the step mother for sure the second murder would not have happened. In fact Mr. Borden would be asking questions and Lizzie would have to step up her alibi. But who knows Lizzie might have gone for a walk to the market and pin the whole thing on the maid. The father then would not have blamed Lizzie at all.
Oh god that’s right! Lizzie was a cool liar and Bridget could or would be blamed. Wow. I wonder if Bridget recognized that possibility. Really Lizzie having so much time to wait for her father to come home could have cooled down and decided not to kill him but she did not. And they said how she loved her father. With Mrs. Borden gone she and Emma would have inherited everything eventually but the furor unleashed on him told of the personal rage she had evidently. All this based on lizzie did it of course.
IDK - If it was me washing the windows - I would have started someplace then gone down the line - not just the dining room / parlor and sitting rooms. Why just those - maybe they would have been more visible from the outside ? Who knows what the thinking was. But that's just me.
And that brings up another thing - hoses were around back then - so why is cheap Mr. Borden not wanting to get the most productivity out of his help by not getting a hose ? It seems that she had to go to the barn about 6-7 times for water that she could have gotten faster from inside of the house being that she was washing windows at the furthest point from the barn water ?
Per Bridget's Preliminary Hearing testimony, she had zero responsibilities on the 2nd floor nor in the parlor. That is why she did not clean the inside of the Parlor windows or 2nd floor inside windows. Since it would take an extension ladder to clean outside 2nd story, I would presume that the farm hands would come over from Swansea and do that chore when necessary.
Steve88778, you touch on it, but I have assumed the kitchen windows were skipped because they were not visible from the street and not a room visitors would likely visit. They may have also gotten less dirty since they faced away from 2nd St and avoided the dust, etc.
