Great point, I might add that a man probably wouldn’t use both hands with a hatchet, but would if the handle was even slightly longer.

I just wanted to say thank you for this amazing thread!
It must have taken a lot of work, and time to put it together, and very generous of you to share what must have taken years to compile.

I love the newish picture of a younger Emma from around 1877 that is in one of the Hatchet articles.
There’s no question it’s her 100%
If the younger Emma turns just slightly more to the left, her ear slant will line up exactly, because they are the same ears.
It’s a fabulous picture of Emma!

I wonder if the FRHS had someone clean the handkerchief with the flowery waffle designs, it sure looks like it.
The hair switch of Abby’s looks to have her real hair there as well.
Is that possibly a mix of both?
