PT Cruisin' in the Mall
When I went to the Mall to get my hair done earlier today, ( or yesterday if I look at the clock) the hair dresser started filling me in on a contest that was going on there in the Mall. They are giving away a PT Cruiser...how do you win it? Easy, sit in it for as long as it takes. Or not so easy? The contest started out with five contestants. It's now down to two contestants. These lucky two have been sitting inside the PT Cruiser, inside of the Mall, and are willing to sit there as long as it takes. They are only allowed a five minute break every 6 hours to eat and attend to their restroom needs. So whoever gives up, loses. The last one in the Cruiser wins it. I don't think I could do that! One of the women is 54, so I was told, the other is in her 70's! I checked the local Newspapers online and here is a link to the contest. Do any of you think it would be worth it to put yourself through this to win a car? I had to walk down and take a look after getting my hair done of course. These women already look like they've been through hell already, but do not show any signs of giving up.
The Newspapers seem to indicate the contest has not been going on for very long, but the people in the Mall assured me it's been 15 days so far.

That was a good post, Allen! I really got into that. It sounds easy, but it's not healthy. If you could eat or drink in the car, I'd try it. But that six minute bathroom break - you could not have time to eat or drink hardly anything and that's gotta wreak havoc on the body. Not worth the health risk. (Let us know who won!

There's a contest like this every year at the D. C. auto show (probably elsewhere too). Nope -- I'd love to have a new PT Cruiser, but that's just too hard a way to win one. Actually, the contest here is slightly different from the one you describe. In this case, the people don't get into the cars; they have to lounge outside them and keep some part of their bodies touching the cars for as long as possible. I don't recall how often they get breaks, but I think it's a bit more often than you describe. It's odd that these are females, because the winners here are almost always male. I can't even understand how people can wait outside in the rain, snow, heat, etc. to get tickets to something like the latest "Star Wars" offering.

Yes, the two woman are still in the car. These are two tough cookies. Neither one of them shows signs of giving up yet. I bet they are doing a lot ofKat @ Tue Jun 21, 2005 6:20 pm wrote::shaking2: Are these people still in the car in the mall?

Yes... A free car is a free car. Aren't they V-4 engines? Mon Dieu! Thayne has a 12 cylinder! The man likes power!augusta @ Wed Jun 22, 2005 6:19 pm wrote:Those PT Cruisers are controversial - you either like 'em or you don't. I didn't care for them when they first came out, but now when I see one I am reminded of a car from the 30's or 40's. Some of the colors are pretty sharp, too.
Audrey, a free car is a free car!
My mother-in-law would call them a "flivver"...

Audrey,
My wife loves her Purple Pt Cruiser. It's cool in that you can fit a ton of stuff in it as all of the seats (except driver's of course) can be removed. It's also a 4 cylinder so it saves on gas. It's pretty comfortable too. I drove it to Sunny Orlando and back with no complaints. I think that the last post hit the nail right on the head. You either love them or hate them. I would love to hate it but I can't bring myself to until it's paid off.
