In print again!
The latest issue of Scarlet Street magazine features my review of the updated Hollywood Gothic by David J. Skal, a wonderful book concerning the writing of Dracula and what has come after. I'm also in the letters section (the issue is #53, and depicts Lon Chaney as The Phantom of the Opera on the cover).

That's pretty cool, Bob, congratulations.
Here's the URL for the magazine: http://www.scarletstreet.com/index.html
I noticed that the issue also contained an article on Virginia Mayo. Just seen her the other day on TV in the classic Jimmy Cagney movie "White Heat".

I know I ask perfection of a quite imperfect world
And fool enough to think that's what I'll find

Right on the heels of that, I'm perusing an iUniverse books by my friend Michael Karol, available on Amazon. It's called The ABC Movie of the Week Companion. This is a project on which I helped out (and I pop up in the book here and there!), and it's quite a nice little guide, and a stroll down memory lane for those of us who grew up watching those mini-movies.

Congratulations on your writings, Bob! I was a big fan of those movie of the weeks. The only one they show once in a while is "Duel", with Dennis Weaver, which is real good. But I remember so many of them I'd like to see again.
Did I hear that one channel is going to be showing those movies again soon?
I remember "Crowhaven Farm" with Hope Lange. And some scary movie with Johnny ("Family Affair") Whitaker and Sandy Dennis. Oh - and that Elizabeth Montgomery movie - was it called "The Victim"? where she spends the night in this house in a storm and there's, uh, something in the basement? "The Legend of Lizzie Borden" was one, wasn't it? There was one with Cloris Leachman whose husband disappears when he goes to the rest room at this diner out in the middle of nowhere. That was shown about ten years ago and I taped it and can't find it now. When I'm on vacation and my husband goes to use the restroom, I think of that sometimes. Oh, there was a good one with Linda Perl and Debralee Scott - I can't remember the title, but it was good when I saw it as a teen. I wish we'd see more of Linda Perl. I read that she quit Matlock because they weren't giving her enough lines. I guess she has a singing career on the side - at least performed publicly. (Did you know she was raised in Japan??)
Please keep us posted on the availability of the book, Bob. I love the subject!
