Perseids...a free sky show

Post by theebmonique »

I believe the Perseids meteor shower will peak tonight...technically tomorrow morning. I have seen this one many times. It can be extremely exciting...for a meteor shower anyway. If you get away from the 'lights of the city', it can be an awesome show. The meteor shower in November, the Leonids, is 'bigger', but it is not always as visible due to weather issues. Anyway...just wanted to pass on some info for a free show tonight...from Ma Nature.

Thanks! There are as many as 40 per hour so those with quick attention spans may be able to catch some.
I have stormy skies at the moment.

Yes, Mars was very visible huh ? This year's 'show' wasn't as impressive as some I have seen, but then I was lying on the grass in my front yard. Although there were no porchlights on...there were a few streetlights which took away from an 'away from the city lights effect'. But it was fun to see SEVERAL meteors streak across the sky. Next year I will definitely go where I can get a better view.
