How has Lizzie affected you?
Lizzie has affected me in the following ways:
-I walk into my medical clinic and (mistakingly) tell the receptionist that I have an appointment with Dr Bowen for 2:30pm. My doctors name does not even sound close to Bowen.
-I have a different Lizzie t-shirt for every day of the week and keep looking for more. I kind of hope that they will come out with Lizzie jackets, pants, shoes etc. That way if anyone askes me what kind of clothing I have I can say that they are from the Elizabeth Borden collection.
-Lizzie has kept me broke financially from buying Lizzie stuff.
-I can't look at any axe or hatchet wherever it might be whether it be in my friend's truck or in a hardware store, without thinking about the case.
-Usually when I finish reading a book the question is not, which book am I going to read next? but which "Lizzie book" am I going to read next?
-Whenever I see a maid I say to myself there's Bridget.
-I didn't know what orange sherbet was until I read about Lizzie. From the name it sounded like some kind of a cake. I made some inquiries, found out what it was and bought some. I recognized the taste as the same as the flintstone push-ups. When I was a kid they used to be just called push-ups and they were lemon flavour. The outside cover had a spiral on it something like a spiral on a barbershop pole. After awhile I found some lemon sherbet, it was the first time I had any since the 70's. I have tried many different flavours. Orange sherbet was Lizzie's favorite or one of her favorites. For me it's a tie between orange and lemon sherbet.
-Every now and then when I try to type Lizzie Borden on the computer I will miss the Z and hit the X and come up with Lixxie Borden.
-I keep thinking of how other well known topics like the Titanic and Jack the ripper for example have had many movies made about them. When it comes to the Borden case, although there are many documentaries, there is only one major movie that has been made about it. I keep hoping that they are going to make a few major motion pictures about it. I think of possible titles such as "Weekend at Lizzies" and "Weekend at Lizzies II"

I can definitely recognize some of the Lizzie symptoms you mention - the seeing of any hatchets and maids and associating them with the Borden case.
And Lord knows how many times I've typed "Lixxie".
Thanks for the amusing post.

I know I ask perfection of a quite imperfect world
And fool enough to think that's what I'll find

I thought I was the only one who typed "Lixxie."
"Lixxie Borden took an aze and gave her..."
Everytime I see a hatchet I think of the case.
I often say in a joking way, "Keep it up and I'll pull a Lizzie on you."
We have a lot of Victorian houses in my area that remind me of Lizzie's house, neigborhood and time period.
My sister's name is Elizabeth so naturally I have to get some teasing in.
My Lizzie Borden books are on my book shelf close to the foot of my bed so Lizzie is the first thing I see in the morning and the last thing I see at night.

So we can all finally come out of the "Lixxie" closet!
OK! Now that's settled, any one who posts Lixxie will be totally understood and not be expected to edit! YAY!
How Lizzie has changed my life:
I got to be in a Discovery Channel TV documentary on her, and hold the handleless hatchet at the FRHS!
See my profile, personal gallery.

And have been able to meet some truly wonderful people here on the Forum, our writers and the Bordenites of Fall River! YAY!
This is a fun topic, Fargo!
