Another Borden murder
Found this in today's news about another Borden murder in Pennsylvania.:
Parents Shot To Death - Daughter Missing Nov 14, 2005, 01:55 AM PST
Police investigating a double murder at a home in Lititz, Pa., are searching for the couple's 14-year-old daughter and have issued an arrest warrant for an 18-year-old believed to be her boyfriend.
Michael and Cathryn Borden, both 50, were killed shortly after 8 a.m. Sunday in their home in Warwick Township, about 60 miles west of Philadelphia.
The couple's 9-year-old son, David, the youngest of five children, had fled to the home of neighbors, who called police, said Lititz Police Chief William Seace. An older daughter still living at home and two adult sons were also safe, he said, but Kara Beth Borden, 14, was gone.
"We don't know whether she has been abducted or is willingly a part of this," Seace said, but he said until police can determine otherwise, they are operating on the assumption Kara was kidnapped.
Pennsylvania State Police have issued an Amber Alert for Kara Borden, who is described as 5'1", 100 pounds, with brown hair and blonde highlights. She was last seen at 8 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 13th, at her family's home on Royal Drive in Warwick Township, wearing a black sweat shirt with "Pillar" across the front, blue jeans and black sneakers, in a red Volkswagen Jetta with Pennsylvania license plate EHH0994.
Authorities say anyone with information about Kara Borden's whereabouts should immediately contact the police by calling 911.
Authorities Sunday night issued an arrest warrant for David G. Ludwig, 18, on two counts of criminal homicide, one count of recklessly endangering and one count of kidnapping.
Seace said information from the other children indicated Ludwig shot both victims, and he reportedly abducted Kara at gunpoint.
"We think they're boyfriend and girlfriend," Seace said. "The young girl was out during the night, came home, and her parents confronted her. From what we understand, he came to the house."
Stephanie Mannon, a 16-year-old friend who had worked with Ludwig, said he and Kara had been seeing each other secretly.
"Their parents didn't approve of them being together" because of the age difference, she said. "It wasn't because he was a shady character, because he wasn't."
The Borden family had lived on the quiet street of two-story homes for several years, said neighbor Tod Sherman, 47. Mike Borden worked for a printing company, and the children were home-schooled, he said.
Sherman said the family knew Ludwig through a home-schooling network and he had occasionally seen the teen at their home.

Thanks, DWilly, I kept one ear glued to the radio today for more news about this latest Borden murder. Not one mention was ever made or any reference to Lizzie. Latest I heard was that the kids were found today in Indiana, I think it was?

At first I thought the boyfriend had just killed Mr.and Mrs. Borden for no reason, but it turns out they had accosted him because he kept their fourteen-year-old daughter out way past her curfew -- like all night. Well, at least he had a reason! Parents can be so hard to deal with. (I guess I should say he is "alleged" to have killed them.)

A little reminiscent of the Charles Starkweather/Caril Ann Fugate murders in 1957. I believe he was 19, she 14.
He murdered both her parents and baby sister(?) and then they went off on a murder spree killing 8 others.

Has anyone kept up with this?
I read in the paper that she is not being charged as an accessory because she did not know he was going to kill her parents.
And he is not being charged with abduction because she went with him willingly (after he killed her parents? or she didn't know he had killed her parents when she went? this was not made clear).
If she went with him willing and she knew he killed her parents, it would just show how irrational someone in love can be.

Kara Borden is a fourteen-year old girl who thinks she's in love. That's why I think you see some of this irrational behavior.nbcatlover @ Wed Nov 23, 2005 11:26 pm wrote:If she went with him willing and she knew he killed her parents, it would just show how irrational someone in love can be.
Btw, I did a google search and a few on-line boards did bring up the Kara/Lizzie connection.

My theory has been that romantic love is a form of mental illness.
Also, just recently they showed brain scans on TV of a girl newly and completely in love. The sight of a photo of her lover, while under MRI scanning of her brain, showed the effects in the hypothalamus, an ancient part of the brain.

Well, I'm one of those people

Please, don't take this the wrong way. I'm not trying to be difficult I just wish that those who to a degree go for "The boyfriend did it" theory could offer up some actual proof that at the very least Lizzie and David were seeing each other romatically. We haven't even got them being good friends so far.

Yes I decided that is a theory I would test only recently- the last few years.
Then after I saw that bit on the news, I figured there was some support for it. In order to be able to properly spell hypothalamus in my post, I Googled "Love and the hypothalamus" and sure enough I found 2 sites which said love is a form of mental illness!
Of course, if you read it on the Internet or see it on TV, it must be true, right?
