On June 8th, watch for "Titanic - the Final Secret". It might air on the National Geographic channel. It's a new show on an interesting new angle that just made the news.
[/i]Please give to the Edwin Porter grave marker fund.
There's another too (or it might be the same program differently titled) set to air on the National Geographic Channel on the 2nd, 3rd and 7th of June (times may vary.)
I think that's the show, Doug! I don't get the National Geographic Channel. It'll be a while before I see it. (Hey, I wonder if they'll show it online ...)
Thanks,
I will be looking out for it. I love to watch anything about Titanic!
I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Ballard about 4 years ago at Mystic Aquarium where he was doing an exhibit about Titanic. He also had some kind of program there, I am not sure if that is still the case. He was very charming and really took the time to talk to you.
Also, for those of you in Connecticut and surrounding areas, the XL Center in Hartford is having an exhibit over the summer months with actual artifacts from the ship. I have not gone but I am planning to.

I wish they would use a vacuum of some sort and suck out all the silt from around the bow so we can actually see the damage caused by the berg. That would be the coolest.

Well, I saw the maiden airing of the program just a while ago on the National Geographic Channel and found it quite interesting as those sorts of shows go. I’d have liked to see more of those hi-rez pictures though.
I staid the night for shelter at a farm behind the mountains, with a mother and son - two "old-believers." They did all the talking...

I just saw a show a couple two or three days ago on the building of the Titanic. Can't remember the channel or show name but it was a good one. It's incredible how much detail work went into the woodwork itself!

That new 'cold war' Titanic show ought to be on tonite. I saw it advertised as being on on June 8 - today. But Doug saw it on June 2...
I've lost track of all the names of all the documentaries I've seen on the Titanic. The show(s) you saw, Big Steve and Snookums, sound good. I love hearing how parts of the ship were built. They say you could smell the new paint on the maiden voyage.
The scientists are saying that the ship is going to rot away from the rust in so many years' time.
BTW, Shelley's website on her Titanic group is really good! It was on there a short while back that I read that George Tulloch died - that rich guy who got the rights to salvage anything from the wreck site. He wasn't that old. I wonder what he died of.
Well, things are looking up for Millvina- much money was raised and some celebs, including Liza Minelli's Ex- have rallied around. My society bid on some of the items, and is also doing some fund raising. She is a cheery, chirpy gal, and is going to be alright. The items realized far more than she ever hoped. Many other survivors suffered terrible poverty and neglect in the end. Millvina is the last survivor and there will be much support for her.
