If you could ask....

Post by Societygirl1892 »

For those of you experts and novices out there, if you could ask Lizzie a question or questions, beside the obvious (did you do it? why'd you do it? did you know about it? etc....), what would that question or questions be?
I really appreciate your input.

I think I'd ask her why she did it and why she stayed in Fall River after the trial. I mean, no one wanted to be around accused axe murderer.

I'd probably ask if there was any truth to the story about doing away with Abby's cat, since she was supposedly so fond of animals. Or if she really frightened a deliveryman away from Maplecroft by offering to get him an axe to open a crate :?:

Well if there was a way to know you would get the absolute truth, I'd ask her to truthfully describe the relationships she had with Abby and Andrew.

I think I'd ask her too if she had any idea who did it, if it wasn't her.

I would ask her why did she stay in fall river

I would also ask her if she was Happy. Did she live a happy Life I mean, did she feel happy at the end.

I would also ask her about Emma and how she felt about her, her relationship with her at the end.

And If I did know for sure she did do it I would love to know if it was worth it in the end.

I would ask Lizzie what she thought about all day. I would like to find out what she was thinking, how her mind worked.

1. What finally compelled you to kill Abby?-Was your father ever intended to be killed also?
2. Where did you hide the dress until Sunday morning?
3. What did you do with the weapon?
4. Did you ask for Prussic Acid on Wednesday?

Lizzie, Were you ever abused by your parents?

Lizzie, do you have any regreats in life?

Who was the "Love of your life?" What ever happened to him?

Lizzie, if you were going to plan a perfect crime, lets say a murder,
how would you
plan it?

I think that would be a very good start, Allen. It may give us a clue as to what led up to the killings. If we knew that I think we would be closer to the killer's identity. "The story is in the details."

I would ask Lizzie if she was really eating Pears in the barn or was it actually Peaches that she was eating

I would ask what tone of voice Lizzie used when telling Fleet that Abby was not her mother but her stepmother, whether she was just informing him of that fact or if she meant it in an angry way.

I would also ask if the dress did have paint on it and if it was the the same she wore on the mourning of August 4rth 1892.

I have the distinct feelng that 116 years wouldn't make a bit of difference with Lizzie- I don't think she would be any more forthcoming now than she was then. I have always felt she was a very secretive, moody person and she certainly wouldn't answer any personal questions which would give her away, whether it be murderous intent or her general feelings.

I would ask Lizzie if she was abused by her Uncle John. Also why she hated Abby so much, was it because of Emma influence or something she did to her personally? Why didn't she date? Was it a conspiracy & who came up with the idea?

I would ask how she felt about Emma treating her like "baby Lizzie', when she was 30+ years old. Why did Emma dislike Abby so much. Were her own feeling toward Abby due to Emma's influence. What happened to drive Emma away from Maplecroft.

I agree with Ellen, I don't think Lizzie would tell us a thing, especially if she knows the Borden's killer is still not known after all of these years. I highly doubt she would give herself away.

If you could ask....

Post by Societygirl1892 »

Kat,
To answer your question, I would ask her: about herself. Who she was, what she loved, what she hated, what she wanted, how she felt. I can't imagine how hard life was for. I feel for her, I guess sometimes I can see a lot of myself in her for various different reasons. She must have been a sad and lonely person who didn't have a lot of choices given the family she grew up in and the time era she grew up in. I don't believe she murdered her parents (although I do think she knew who did and was involved somehow, either willingly or unwillingly), but I always think about this:
If she did do it, look what she had to live with......AND....
If she didn't do it, look what she had to live with.
Either way, very sad.

My question for Lizzie:

Did you go out to the barn on the morning of August 4, 1892 before the discovery of your dead father in the sitting room?

If so, why did you go out to the barn?

Did Abby or your father SEE you prior to the blows?

Did the axe get stuck (did you have to struggle with the axe) in either of the skulls? sorry, I know that's gross

Would you have killed Bridget, too if she had not retired to her room?

I think I would ask her "If you were so upset with your father, and don't like your stepmother, why don't you move out and go live with other relatives, or go get a job and an apartment?"

I would be tempted to ask her exactly when it was that she heard Abby return, and time the answer. No matter what she replied with, it would contradict something she or someone else had already said, so the time involved in her sorting out the details would be telling, as would facial expressions and body language. Since there is no guarantee of a truthful answer, this is the best I can come up with.

I would ask her to tell me the story of her life, and I would take her out to dinner in Boston on Tremont street.
