Happy Birthday, Shelley!

Thanks you guys! You know how I love these pretty cards! TK- that looks like two Mutton Eaters! So far the birthday has been pretty superb! My daughter got me a faboo keke which we picked up at the Italian bakery late yesterday. I got to watch it being decorated but my daughter would not let me have a piece until after midnight or else my wish might not come true- it is marble cake with Italian buttercream frosting and purple roses! I collect jewelry with shells on it (for obvious reasons  ) and received a necklace and earring set of shells, my favorite Haley Mills movie, Summer Magic ,and gift certificates to my favorite boutique Peppergrass and Tulip in Mystic (Victorian stuff). When I got to church today my candy jar was filled with chocolate kisses and the priest had left me the sweetest round ring brooch made by a Maine artisan of obsedian and malachite. I am enjoying the ecards and phone calls especially. It is 62 degrees, the leaves are turning on the trees, there's a bottle of chilled champagne and dinner out with my daughter tonight- so the sting of being now 57 is not so bad! And it is only 11 a.m. so who knows what the day may bring. I had hoped to dine at The Lighthouse Inn in New London but it just closed for 2 weeks renovation, Bette Davis and Joan Crawford, among other Hollywood luminaries used to stay there- and of course- it is haunted by the ghost of a beautiful bride who tripped down the grand staircase on her wedding day going down to the ceremony and broke her neck! http://www.lighthouseinn-ct.com/
So, that one will have to wait. Thanks for all the well wishes !

Thanks everybody! It has been a great day and at the moment I am stuffed with champagne, lobster and birthday cake and will roll into bed a year older but happier. It was so nice to be remembered today with emails and cards and phone calls. I may even decide to have another one of these birthdays NEXT year!

All the best!

Yes, I agree, very nice photo of you, Shelley. And I love your blouse, very Titanic era looking, is it? It so looks like something one of the ladies would wear to dinner on the ship.

Yes, pretty picture - thank you for sharing it!

If that looks like a Titanic dress, then it might be on similar lines as a Lizbeth dress! In fact, Shell & Lizbeth Borden might be of an age in that dress if it was c. 1912.

Thanks! Yes- it is a 1912 silhouette dress in black with white lace. I LOVE folks who love fashion too! Well, this is the BEFORE cutting the cake shot! My husband gobbled up the last piece last night but my daughter will have a birthday soon so more cake is in my future, and now that I have found the dream bakery, getting older may not hurt so much.
