Alax rocks the house

Alax... My first baby. He is 16 now.

Earlier tonight we attended a soup supper to raise money to send him and his youth group to Youth Strike For Christ in February.

I knew there was to be entertainment provided by the kids and that Alax was "doing something with some of the guys".

Nothing prepared me for the very cool number he and some of his friends cooked up.

They did a "rocken" version of "Oh Holy Night". Alax played the electric guitar (bass-- is that right?) and sang back up. OMD! You should have seen him jumping straight up in the air while playing and how he really got the crowd's attention with his guitar solo! Thayne (a classic rocker at heart) was on his feet by the time they hit the 2nd note and was clapping, dancing and yelling "woo" every chance he got-- He was having such a good time watching his son that I almost cried.

There were some girls sitting at the table behind me talking about how "hot" Dudes Martin is! (Dudes has been his nickname ever since he was 2 and told everyone his name was Alaxandre Doodles Martin.)

While I am happy to have a "hot" son-- I would prefer the onset of hottness to wait until college.....

Wasn't it just yesterday that he promised never to move away from me and sneaked away from school on first recess as he thought maybe I was lonesome at home without him? MON DIEU! He is almost a man.

Listening to some chansons de Noel the other night, I was hearing "Oh Holy Night" in French. I've always loved that song. Hearing it, though, made me think how much I've missed hearing Eric Cartman's version on the South Park Christmas CD since Emily's been around.

I know it's so sacrilegious to mix South Park with Christmas, but a lot of great hiumor comes from wickedness. . .
