Sorority Row

Post by augusta »

My husband and I went to see "Sorority Row" at the movies yesterday. We went to a showing that was before noon, so tickets were only $4 each. Bought two bags of popcorn, which was $5.25 each. Boy, those once-a-week free popcorn days of the summer got me hooked now on having to have popcorn when I go. We did sneak a couple cold cans of pop in. (Pop there is like three bucks. Oh, and I brought some cotton candy in that I thought by the container it was 'candy corn' flavor and when I got home and looked at it in the light saw it said "regular flavor" on it. Was gonna buy a bag of 'fun size' Baby Ruths and Mounds, but my husband saw it in my cart in the store and hollered for me to put it back. Me being diabetic was a good reason, and not being able to think up anything to combat that argument, I did put that stuff back.)

I've been wanting to see this movie since I saw the preview for it. The preview gave the plot away, but I had to see what happened next.

Some sorority sisters played a prank on a college boy by having one of the girls fake her death and making him think it was his fault. They all go to "bury" her at this abandoned mine. The guy is so upset, out of exasperation he drives a digging tool into her chest, really killing her. They throw her body down a mine shaft. But then things start happening to them all. Has she come back from the dead for revenge? Or is any of several people to blame?

It turned out to be slightly better than the usual slasher film. Nudity was minimal and showed a few topless scenes, which I think people expected with a movie like this and an 'R' rating. A little too much for kids to see, IMO.

It was interesting to see Rumor Willis (daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore) as the star sorority girl. She was pretty, acted well and her voice sounded like Demi Moore's. It's the first thing I ever saw her in. I'll bet she becomes quite a celebrity in her own right.

It was also interesting to see Carrie Fisher as the old lush of a housemother. I didn't recognize her.

When the real killer is revealed, it went over my head why it was who it was. And, of course, they left it open for a sequel. I ain't gonna go see the sequel.

"Saw VI" is coming out soon, and I'll go see that. But I'll re-watch 'Saw V' first, because 'Saw V' was a busy movie - had a lot going on in it - and I need to get that storyline straight before I see "VI". I don't think you have to watch these in a row, but since I've seen them all so far, I might as well keep up with the reasoning that sews them all together.

Augusta, I don't think your movie could have been any worse than The Time Traveler's Wife, which I saw yesterday, at a friend's urging. I had read the book and was really disappointed with the movie.

I really want to see The Informant! with Matt Damon. It takes place at a company I used to work for - ADM. Has anyone seen this yet?

kssunflower - Glad I didn't see 'The Time Traveler's Wife'.

That should be cool, seeing 'The Informant!' with you having worked there! I love Matt Damon.
