JtheR in America

Post by Kat »

Did anyone see that new documentary I think called Jack the Ripper in America?

They convinced me! Well, temporarily. I usually fall for the ones that are well done, but later, when the new influence is off me, I lose that conviction.

They showed their suspect, whose circumstances I had heard of- and he's an OK suspect. Something new (at least for me- but I've not followed newer theories) was to research serial killings in America after the time frame of "Jack's" disappearance from London (convinced that he did come to these shores).

They found (they say) similar killings in other cities across the U.S., including Texas and California- this further research is what impressed me, because, as they stated, serial killers do travel.

If you saw it what did you think?

If you didn't, I hope I gave it the right title, and try to look for it in your local listings.

I saw it and I was impressed. It certainly made sense. His background, his profession, the traveling, etc. I think the fellow who followed it up had some extremely good arguments.

That's scary - that he may have come to the US and continued his work. I didn't see it, but I will certainly watch for it.

They did show a few news article snippets from old papers of the time- I think New York was also on the list of crime scenes.

I would have liked them to have given us more than a cursory glance at these printed stories in the American papers, with headlines, paper names, dates so the research could be duplicated.

It's worth watching again~ I hope it's repeated. It's odd they showed this around Holiday time, anyway.
