Nimrod call of the Day

Post by Tina-Kate »

TK-Good morning, St James Church.

N-Yeah, I’m looking for info on the Shriners.

TK-You have the wrong number. This is St James Church.

N-What did I do wrong?

TK-I don’t know sir, I didn’t dial for you.

N-But the Shriners is a service club, right?

TK-I don’t know anything about the Shriners sir. This is St James Church.

 Egads.

Sounds to me like it's your fault, T-K.

Well, one thing may be said for your caller, TK - his heart was in the right place even if nothing else above the neck was working right.

That's interesting. It looks like there's a Shrine Temple at least somewhat nearby to you, TK (in SE Canada that is) but the Shriners Hospital Canada is in Montreal. The nearest one to you geographically is actually in the United States.

& yet another...

TK - Good afternoon, St James Church.

FN (Female Nimrod...talking on phone while driving, which was in fact made illegal here a short while ago) - Hi honey! I just turned on the 115 & I'll be home soon. Blah blah blah yadda yadda yadda...

TK - Hello? HELLO? You have the wrong number.

FN - What?

TK - You have the wrong number.

FN - What did I call?

TK - St James Church.

FN - O Jesus Christ! (immediate disconnect)

I had one in the middle of the night once.

"Hi. Is Bob there?"

"You have the wrong number."

"Can you give me his number?"

I had a wrong number several years ago that, even today when I think about it, it still seems incredible.

It was about 1:30 am, I was in the living room watching TV, my phone rings. I think, who would be calling me at this time of night ? I go into the kitchen and answer the phone. The female caller (FC) at the other end was not a nimrod but she had the wrong number. It went something like this. The first call lasted about 10 minutes.

FC - Hi, what are you doing?

ME - I'm just watching TV

FC - Are you coming over? ( at this point I realized someone had called the wrong number, but I decided to play along to see how far it would go until she caught on )

ME - I don't know, maybe later on.

FC- Well there's a bunch pf people here now were having a bit of a party.

Then a different female picked up another phone in the house, she heard us talking and she said "I need to use the phone"

FC -Tammy get off the phone, I'm talking to someone.

The other female hung up.

FC - That's my sister, Tammy, I'll let her use the phone then call you back.

ME- Okay I'll talk to you later.

We hung up. I never expected her to call back again but about 20 minutes later she called back.

FC - Are you going to come over now?

ME - I don't know where you live.

FC - You know where I live, you've been to my house lots of times.

ME- I know but its been awhile since I've been there and I can't remember which house it is.

FC- Its the green house.

ME- Oh yeah that's right.

FC- Well are you coming over then?

ME- No I don't think so I'm pretty tired right now.

Tammy picks up the phone again and says that she wants to make another call

FC - Tammy get off the phone.

ME - Tammy get off the phone we're talking, you can talk later.

Tammy hung up.

FC- Are you and John talking to each other again or are you still mad at him?

ME- No we're not talking, I'm still mad at him.

FC- Yeah, he can be a real jerk.

The conversation continued with general questions and comments back and forth about family, friends, work, etc. The second conversation lasted about 50 minutes. The female caller never did catch on that she had the wrong number twice.

I am guessing that the female caller was drunk, I don't know. Although from the sound of her voice she didn't sound drunk. Maybe she was just a little bit drunk.

I never did find out who I was talking to. The curiosity is still with me though.

Angel, that's the funniest thing I've heard in a long time. My God.

Fargo, you is baaaad. That was such fun to read! I'm tempted to do it, but they have your number most likely.

Poor Tina-Kate. Well, at least you get paid for answering it.
