While surfing the net, found out some stuff I didn't know. Nance met Lizzie in Boston in 1904.The two had an intense relationship. Maybe nothing more than being intensely social as therther people normally are. Femist Carolyn Gage refered to O'neill as an overt Lesbain. And she was born in Oakland California and her name was Gertrude Lamson.
But my question is, seems like they were hot and heavy friends, and then it just seemed to die or something. I mean did they ever keep up with each other, write letters, keep in contact with each other? Just seems like the relationship ended just about as quick as it started. Does anyone know. I can't find anything.

I've read that Nance always had financial problems - whether from her manager mishandling her money or Nance herself spending it just as quickly as she earned it. Lizzie was reported to have given her expensive gifts, which she could pawn in hard times. I'm wondering if Lizzie ever gave her money also. Maybe Lizzie got tired of being used this way, if this was a big part of why Nance enjoyed Lizzie's company. Just speculation on my part...

I 'm glad that you posted. I never hear that Nance having finanical problems,either by her own hand or lousy managemant, but I have always heard that Lizzie did give her expensive gifts. I am wondering if she did pawn them. Great post!! Maybe something I can check to. thanks.
