We had the option to see it in "2D" but thought we might as well see the 3D. I think the 3D movies are getting better and better. The 3D glasses were an extra $2.50 apiece.
I thought it was worth it to see in 3D. There was a lot of mountain scenery and chases, which were good in 3D. In a scene or two when characters dangled precariously, you got a really good view and kinda felt what it was like. Or thought we did.
The main character is the Puss in Boots from Shrek. He soon meets up with friend/foe Humpty Dumpty and a girlfriend cat, who go after Jack and Jill's magic beans from Jack of the beanstalk fame. Jack and Jill are huge, violent people. The giant has been long dead, but if you go up the beanstalk you have to deal with Mother Goose. Her chicks lay golden eggs, but try taking one of them.
The movie explains how Puss in Boots came to be. The spattering of cat jokes was endearing to us cat lovers. But the movie isn't a real sweet one. It has a lot of adventure, action and fighting. It does have an open end for the possibility of a sequel, but I hope they don't do one. One movie on this character was all right, but two I don't think would go over real well. I miss the sweeter fairy tale characters and hope there is a new one with them.
