opposing testimony of John Morse and Bridgett

I can't remember if it was the inquest, preliminary trial or final trial but John Morse testified that Abbie gave Bridgett the order to wash windows at breakfast which they started eating around 7:00 am. Bridgett testified that Abbie gave her the order to wash the windows around 9:00am which is after the time John Morse left as he left at around 8:45am. If John wasn't in the house at 9:00 am how would he know that Abbie gave Bridgett the order to was them. This makes me think Bridgett was given the order at breakfast but whydid she lie about it?

Anyone ever read "The Hands of Time" It's about the Borden murders and the author thinks Bridgett killed the Bordens and why Bridgett lied about some stuff and why her testimony and that which Lizzie gave at the inquest doesn't match on some points and the same with Brigett and John Morse.

Did you notice that the author of the book THE HANDS OF TIME is not even mentioned in the book. The only place her name is found is at the top of each page along with the page designation, and it is only her surname.

Her name is Muriel Arnold.

I don't know Muriel, but I use to take my coffee break with her nephew many years back. He told me that she was extremely unhappy with the publisher and how they mishandled and bungled the publication. if you look at the pages you will discover that it is badly done, to say nothing about the binding itself, cheap, cheap.

And to write a book and have the publisher forget to add your name............absurd. Not only is it not on the binding cover, but it is missing from the title page or the copyright information.

Miss Arnold makes the claim that unlike Jack the ripper the Borden crime is "salvable," as she puts it. To Her...that is.

The Borden case is just as "salvable" or not, as the Ripper Case. I am sure if you read it carefully and compare her scenario to the facts, one could shot holes through it just like every other author who thinks they have solved the case. Just like Arnold Brown's book, she makes the pieces all fit. But, just because one can make things fit, does not mean it happened that way.

This being said.

Bridget did not do it, but she knew a lot more than she ever divulged or confessed.

And,unless she had the help of Bridget, or an outsider, it is my opinion that Lizzie didn't do it also.

It could be that either John or Bridget was mistaken about the time, or maybe Abby told her twice.

It may be that Abby first told Bridget about washing the windows at breakfast, then reminded her at 9:00. Abby might have mentioned that the windows needed washing at the breakfast table without Bridget being present, she may have mentioned it to Andrew and John Morse and Morse remembered it. There could be other explanations as well.

I agree. I think it was just a misunderstanding. I think either Bridget was told twice, or John might have remembered Abby saying the windows needed washed at breakfast. Or it's possible Bridget got the times mixed up. I don't believe it was an intentional lie for either of them.

First, IloveLizzie I want to welcome you to our idea of heaven "Lizzie Borden society". See that you just joined. But I have always thought that it was right after breakfast that she was told to wash windows. But I have read alot of different testimonies as to when she was told.

It seems that people may remember a period of time or an exact time according to some association they attach to an event. In this case it would seem the breakfast meal would have a strong significance for determining the time, so it does seem to me to fit with what Yooper said that maybe it was mentioned twice in some way.
