On January 17, 2012 PBS will air a new, 2-hour 'American Experience' show titled "Custer's Last Stand". The DVD is already available for pre-ordering from PBS for $19.99 (the list price is higher). It's supposed to begin with Custer at Gettysburg and end at the Last Stand.
I think I'd like to see it first before I go and order it. I am hoping that it will put to rest rumors and be historically accurate, but there is so much out there on Custer that it is probably not an easy thing to do.

Re: New Custer Film
Thanks for the heads up. I am looking forward to seeing it. Did read a bit about it on their website and it seems it will focus on delving into his complex personality. Should be an interesting program.

Re: New Custer Film
Thanks, kssunflower. I think with historical figures, I mostly want to know that about them. I've read that he had a kind of high pitched voice, and that he stuttered when excited. And something about his laugh ... I think writers concentrate more on "things" with him. Well, it's not much different than Borden writers, is it? But when you only have crumbs to work with, as with Lizzie & company, what can you do.
