The first item is bizarre enough, but the second item is downright absurd!
Description of item:
Offered here is a check dated October 28, 1936, drawn on the B.M.C. Durfee Trust Company of Fall River, Massachusetts, payable to Elton M. Borden in the amount of $222.22, and endorsed by him on the verso. Provenance from the estate of William C. Borden. Check has been gruesomely matted along with a reproduction image of Lizzie Borden and the Borden House, where the murders were committed.
Who is Elton M. Borden?
Who is William C. Borden?
What is their connection to Lizzie Borden?
It seems to me that the sellers are using our Lizzie’s name in order to sell these item. Shame on them!

The check is signed by a member of her family, Elton M. Borden and is from the estate of another descendant, William C. Borden.

Kresimangallery appears to handle legitimate historical documents so I'm wondering why go out on a very shaky limb and jeopardize their reputation?!!? MB, do you know who Elton Borden was? There are several William C. Bordens, none of whom are closely connected to Lizzie. From what I can ascertain from minimal effort.

Not sure who William C Borden was in 1936, but I have an early 30's directory and several late 1800s and 1920s and there is no listing for William C. He could have lived in one of the smaller nearby towns.
During Lizzie's life time there were a couple, (perhaps 3) Elton Bordens. One named O. Elton Borden lived a block and a half away from lizzie on the same street, French. He was a bank teller for the National Bank down the road on Main. Of course all the Fall River Bordens are related, once you go back far enough. Not sure how close O. Elton was, though. But he lived in a nice house.
Can''t find anything for a Elton M. but I did find an Elton E. A machinist. Not close to Lizzie,I would have to guess. In the teens and early 20s he lived in a modest 3 family home on Manton Street in the South of the city. By 1930 he was living in his own small cottage on the other side of town on Baldwin Street. A modest little place outside the center of town but still in fall river.
He was basically a nobody when it came to fall river history, except for his interesting name, "Elton."
Below is the little cottage where Elton E. lived. Compared to Maplecroft, Lizzie's place was 3 to 4 times bigger. A closer study would need to be done to discover who Elton M was.
