OK...let's not pretend we never heard of Paul Harvey. There's more than a handful of teenagers on here. I'm not the only one. (teenager, that is)

Here's "the rest of the story." (Harvey sounds very old on this clip)

Good one, MB. I agree, Paul Harvey sounds really old in this clip. Thanks for the memories!

When I was young, I had a clock radio that had those 'dropping numbers' that made a slight click-- it was set to go off on school mornings just about the time Paul Harvey came on... I listened every day!

In Edward Radin's defense, Mr. Harvey does a disservice to Radin by taking what Radin said and making it sound like it was all fact as reported by Radin.

Radin gives his version as a "possiblity" Harvey makes it sound like Radin had the proof that there was an exchange of words between Abby and Bridget. Radin never said there was. He makes claim that there was a "possibility". Radin did not word it the way Harvey described it.

Harvey tells it with complete sensationalism, scandal and with a complete lack of accountability—giving no quotes. In giving his scenario Radin does talk about the possibility that there was a negative exchange between Abby and Bridget. He does this to support his belief that the maid did it, as he believes. But he does this responsibly, though his summation is unlikely. Though Radin is wrong he is no Lincoln or Spiering. I believe he did an honest study and came to a constructive conclusion. Harvey makes it sound like it was the solemn truth.

Below is what Abby said and how Bridget replied. By saying, "I asked her how" which implies little objection.

Below that is the quote by Radin and how he said it and taken from his book.

"As I was fixing my dining-room table," that Mrs. Borden asked her if she had anything to do that morning. Her exact testimony then was: "I said, no, not particular, if she had anything for me to do. She said she wanted the windows washed. I asked her how and she said inside and outside both, they are awful dirty."

Bridget woke up not feeling well. She reported her conversation with Mrs. Borden as much later than the facts indicate. It is possible that Bridget did have a second conversation with Mrs. Borden, one in which she requested a postponement of washing the windows because of the weather and the way she felt. Mrs. Borden might have refused and thus triggered the emotional explosion that led to murder.*
