Poor Alice. Called a turncoat for telling the truth.
The Fall River Historical Society inherited all the Photographs and records of the now defunct Adams House. The Adams House is known to some as The Home for the Aged. It is where Alice Russell spent the last 12 years of her life. It closed its doors recently. Never thought I would see the day. The most reputable nursing facility in fall river.
The photo was taken in 1929. Alice died in 1941. ( The photo was not part of the inheritance but from the Historical Societies inventory)

Re: Alice and the Adams House
A question regarding Alice’s testimony. If Alice loosened Lizzie’s dress that Lizzie was wearing on August 4th (the day of the murders), why couldn’t Alice describe the dress? Alice could describe the “cheap cotton Bedford cord” dress - and even when Lizzie bought it (“-A. In the early spring”) - that Lizzie was allegedly ripping up and putting into the stove while police were milling around. Alice could describe the pink wrapper. Alice seems to know all of Lizzie’s dresses, yet even though Alice touched the dress that Lizzie was wearing (“I started to loosen her dress, thinking she was faint, and she said, ‘I am not faint.’”), Alice could not describe the dress (“Q. Are you able to give us any description of the dress she had on that morning? A. None whatever.”).
Alice said that she did not witness any blood on the dress, and did not witness Lizzie burning the dress: “I did not actually see her put it in the stove.”
Alice’s testimony seems very strange to me.
