To answer as to why the prosecution didn’t bring this up, I can only assume Mr Davis refused to testify, and John certainly wasn’t talking.
The Hilliard papers could be interesting.
Do they contain the secret conversation between Cook, and Hilliard?
That was regarding the relationship of Lizzie, and her dad for one.
Could also give truth into the discussion, and details of the will, as you need not be reminded.

Davis wasn’t summoned for trial (per Knowlton papers) or grand jury (per FR Globe). A person can’t refuse to answer to a summons from the court. So my interpretation is this avenue of investigation didn't amount to enough to support case against Lizzie.
I think I mentioned before, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Emma asked Morse to visit on the 3rd to cool the tension. He clearly failed.

Possibly promised anonymity for his information.
If all that information was simply made up by the reporter, he surely took liberties.
One would think if the will was suspected as a motive, surely these precise details would have been pursued.
The way quotation marks were used in some articles back then is hard to follow.
Not sure the reporters were annotating their own comments.
