I'm Moving

Post by Susan »

Hi gang, just a quick post to let you know that I am moving this weekend and am completely STRESSED!!! My apartment complex is going condo soon and I have to get out, can't and don't want to buy into it. I will be offline at some point tomorrow when they disconnect my phone service and won't be back online until next Thursday or Friday. Can't wait to be settled in my new place and get back to the Forum, I'll miss you all.

Moving can more than a bit stressful!

When we moved from Boston to Omaha.. Well, Stefani doesn't allow the words I would use to describe the experience to appear on the forum.

Good luck Susan.....

(I wouldn't buy into it either!)

You have my sympathies. Remember, "move" is a four-letter word.

Thanks, everyone, I'm baaaaaaaack! The move was absolutely awful, the battery kept dying in the truck we were using and it was miserably hot out. Thankfully, it only took 3 and a half trips to get all my stuff to my new place.

Hmmm, details? Well, I moved from a large studio apartment to a roomy one bedroom apartment and the rent is the same!!!!! Unheard of in this part of the country! The building has security gates and is so quiet and I live right downstairs from my best friend, Angela!

I am making some headway with the boxes, things are slowly getting put away. My kitchen, bathroom and bedroom are almost presentable, wish I could say the same for my living/dining room, its still a bit of a wreck. Anyhoo, just wanted to let everyone know that I made it and can now access the Forum again, yahoo!

When Thayne and I were first married he flew from Boston to Iowa to drive back a small sized pick up truck his older brother gave us. Since we now had a pickup to haul it back in his mother gave us a fair amount of household things she didn't need anymore, including a small drop leaf kitchen table I still have today! He didn't drive straight through and had stopped for the night on the way back in a motel. We were newlyweds and of course had to spend an hour on the phone talking.... All during the conversation he kept saying "hold on a sec." and would put the phone down... Finally I asked him what he was doing and he told me he was going to the window to make sure no one was stealing our new stuff....

I laughed and asked him if he was going to stay awake all night.. He told me no... and he didn't. Of course no one stole that junk....

I simply adore that darling man....

Another time we were living in a small apartment in a house modified into apartments. Most of us were young married college students. The couple across the hall were moving and their new place didn't have enough room for a full sized sofa they had but just enough for the 2nd hand love seat Thayne and I had. Terri (that was her name) came over and begged me to swap her--- even up-- our love seat for her sofa. I accepted with delight as the sofa was longer and nicer that our love seat. It was (and is) down filled and the most comfortable sofa I have ever had...

I have had it recovered twice-- and I still have it too! It is on my sun porch and we sometimes argue about who gets to sleep on it on breezy spring nights!

Thanks, its so nice to be back! I had to go drop off the keys and do the final walkthrough tonight, I tried to read and catch up on all the new posts before I left.

Audrey, thats sort of what happened to me, hence the half trip, I acquired a table and 4 chairs and a computer desk! Its so nice to have the extra room to have more furniture, it feels more like home now. Now I know how Lizzie felt when she left her old, cramped room that Emma took over and moved into the bigger bedroom. Or, the Borden house for Maplecroft.

Good news, Susan! I'm glad you described that "1/2 trip", I was wondering what that meant...hehehe!

Sorry, Tina-Kate, didn't mean to be confusing. I think my brain is still a bit fuzzed from the whole moving experience!

No problem. Just gave me fun trying to think of ways a 1/2 trip was possible. Like maybe you went to make trip No. 4 & simply decided to turn back & leave the rest of the stuff behind.

No, Eugene, I wish! I'm inland and uphill from the water, no ocean views though. The closest I've ever lived to the ocean was in New Jersey where we lived 2 blocks from the beach, on the 5th floor. We had a very nice view from our dining room of the water.
