It seems I'd best get something posted so I can continue to read all of the other posts. This is such a wonderful site!!!! Now to myself:
I am fifty something and have been facinated with the "Lizzie Mystery" since I was a child and watched an episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents. I'll admit there is much I don't know.

Actually, I was a member of the forum when it was located on another site, but my computer crashed, and I've finally gotten it repaired.

If someone can explain to me how to post photos on this site I will share pictures ofmy bathroom. It's decorated in a "Lizzie theme" of course. Thanks and have a good day.

Click on Post Reply at the bottom of the last post.
(Or start a new thread). At the bottom of that screen there will be a "Browse" feature.
Click on Browse to find your file which holds your picture. Your picture should be about 100k. Find it and click on it and it uploads it here. Click on "Submit."
You will need to write something in the posting box or it will reject your effort. Having your picture sized ahead of time helps too.
Once it appears on the screen, people can click on it and it will go to a new page and open your picture.

I too remember your bathroom plans and I'm eager to see what you did with it.
Your computer adventures sound like mine. I bought a new computer nearly a year ago and still haven't set it up. I guess I'm waiting for this one to crash completely.

Hi Everyone.....I love this site! Lizzie has been a fascination for me since I was a child growing up in Massachusetts hearing tales of the mysterious Borden tragedy. Many years have passed since then, but I'm still interested in Fall River and those sad happenings. I'm a female in my 50's, have lots of interests and I'm so glad to have found others who enjoy chatting about so many things. I would love to see pics of your 'Lizzie Bathroom', Zoe...I have a "Statue of Liberty" themed bathroom....finally found a place to put all my souvenirs! Best wishes to all....~wolfy

PS: I'm sooooo slow on my computer....so pls, bear with me. On your profiles, how did you all add your Zodiac signs?

Welcome to our forum Wolfy ! To get your zodiac sign added try going to the main page of the forum...your screen name is on the left side. Click on that and your registration information should come up. Scroll down and add your birthdate...I think that will put your zodiac sign in.

Thanks, Tracy! On my way..should see the symbol for Capricorn. How's the weather in Utah? I've driven through your beautiful state, stopping in Salt Lake City, on my way to California, a while ago. Here in Connecticut where I live, the hot, hazy, humid days ofsummer have begun...I think we had one or two days of Spring after a very cold winter.

A/C is a good thing...often, a necessity...to relieve the stress of high temps. Maybe, if that fateful August day in 1892 in Fall River had been a bit cooler, events would have played out differently...???? I think an unbelievably hot day can cause all manner of bad behaviour and from all accounts, 4 August 1892 was a scorcher. Add heavy clothing and feeling poorly to the mix of heat and bad tempers and who knows for sure what could/did happen? Insomnia is going to let me get back to sleep (at last!), so I'll say goodnight. Looks like your zodiac sign is showing OK now. I know there are several members who can tell you about what the weather was REALLY like that day. There is some info out there somewhere which states that the temperature was not all that hot on THAT day. I will check the archives. Anybody have a source for this info ?

I keep saying that those who never got the LBQ can't really know it as a resource- don't worry. There's plenty of people who don't know about the temperature research done there. 3 different people worked on that temperature problem!

Hey! Maybe that is the root word for it= Temper.

Anyway, no I'm not insomniac- I have a good doctor who listens to me. I just have a body clock which is always set to California time.

Sorry about that condition- I know people who have it. It's awful sometimes!

And, Liz, sometimes I stay up past my bedtime because I get so involved in finishing things like... a book....couldn't put down 'An Instance at the Fingerpost' a while back and it took me a few days to feel awake

, but it was worth it. I hope you can eventually get some good rest. Kat, I found your outstanding essay about what you went through during your power loss. I felt like I was right there with you. I especially enjoyed your speculations about how it might have been for Lizzie back in 1892, when electricity was a rarity. I am always affected by extremes of temperature....sometimes, a bit dazed & confused during very hot, humid days until I can cool off. One can only wonder even after all these years, what role the weather or as you so aptly wrote, the temper...ature played in the events on Second Street. Where's Sherlock Holmes when we need him?

After watching those Reality Pioneer shows on TV tho- we figured out that going from air conditioning to not have air conditioning is one thing. But never having it is something else. Meaning not knowing any different would change the scope of what we can understand.
I don't know if I posted that. Harry & I talk about this a lot. That it's nearly impossible to try to get into the head of a Victorian. I'm glad you gave me the opportunity to bring this up.

In reality, I'm more on Siberian time, but since I never lived there I tell myself it's California. Right now I am getting great sleep- by going to bed at 7 a.m. whereas going to bed at 5 doesn't work for me. It's odd.

Did you live in California at one time, perchance? I did, loved it, and miss it sometimes...especially, when the snow swirls around my house and tries to wend its way inside...Brrrr....Feast or famine concerning weather in CT... And, yes...Please write more about Lizzie and the Victorians...you have a gift with words and writing!!

We lived in California twice. Once when the Beach Boys were new. We had a choice of moving back here or to Huntington Beach, and I wanted Florida and brothers wanted Huntington Beach and we moved back here-for the third time.
I love it here in Florida and 2/3 of brothers are living in California.
More than anyone wanted to know, right?

Hi Zoe...Your Lizzie Bathroom is fabulous! I love the shadow box and the beautiful stenciling. Can you describe some of the knick knacls and other treasures you have...like the Pear items? Really teriffic!!...Best, ~wolfy

The large ax is a lightweight (aluminum) ceremonial ax. It would have been carried in a parade by (say) a Civil War Veteran. Found it in an antique mall (500 dealers)in Findlay, OH. If it had been in Gettysburg, I wouldn't have been able to afford it.

The small glass hatchet was found in a small antique shop in Wellington, OH, as I recall.

My ex (thank goodness) actually bought me a couple of the handpainted pansy/violet plates. I found several others at a church rumage sale for .25 each. The pansy pictures came from garage sales. My best friend , Lucy has dibs on them should I GO before her.

Nearly all the pears came from Dollar Tree stores. My little nephew likes to buy his "ol' auntie" pears for the Lizzie bathroom. My sister's mother in law is also good for pears and pansies, also. The pears that are hanging from the shelf were outragously priced blown glass ornaments, purchased after Christmas that year for 75% off. And the velvet pears (that aren't pictured

) were bought marked down at the Hayes Presidential Center in Fremont, OH.

I didn't do any stenciling. I sponged the tree on the wall; painted the flowers by hand, and stamped pears on the tree and sheep across the top of the vanity and shower and doorway.

I do wish sis had gotten a picture of the curio cabinet that sits right under the shadow box. It's loaded down w/ cups, saucers and a few pieces of "Occupied Japan", glass pears AND the 45 record by the Chad Mitchell Trio.

Just for the record... I've added things since the photos were taken. I'm going to post one more picture just for whatever. Have a good night all.
