Hello, again, all!
We just got back from our week in New Hampshire, staying at a cabin on Lake Armington in Piermont.
We didn't go on a "Raymond Tour" in the White Mountains like Emma did in 1890, but we were up there. Emily loved our visit to the famous Clark's Trading Post, where we rode the train and saw the trained bear act. (I had last visited Clark's 43 years ago when I was 4 years old.)
One day we ventured south again and visited the Canterbury Shaker Village, because we can't go anywhere without getting a good dose of history. The village was first settled by the Shakers in 1792 and the last Canterbury Shaker died in 1992. Their communal village is now a preserved historical site with great guided tours in a very peaceful setting.
No visit to Newmarket, though. . .
So we're back in Fairhaven where it's so HOT and HUMID that we nearly melted when walking from the van to the back door. No cool lake to wade into here. . .
It's always good to be home, though.
I have some reading to catch up on, now.
