So it has come to him, as it must to all of us, Rest in peace, old friend.

He brought laughter to many many people during his lifetime. He was really talented. Those faces he made would make you laugh and he never even had to say anything. I love watching reruns of The Andy Griffith Show, and of Three's Company . When I started watching the episodes with Don Knotts, I thought it was especially cool to find out that both he and Joyce DeWitt were from West Virginia. My daughter used to love the movie The Ghost and Mr. Chicken. It's a sad thing, even if it is inevitable that we all must go sometime.

That is sad to hear. He was a marvelous talent with great comedy timing.

He'll always be remembered for one of the great TV characters - Barney Fife.

Dear Barney! Do you suppose he's managed to lock St. Peter and himself inside the pearly gates yet? We watched a good chunk of the marathon and thought how much laughter he gave us and how sad we are to lose him. Another piece of our childhood gone.

Right you are Steve. When I was a kid, I couldn't stand him. As I became older the genius behind his comedy began to shine. He was one funny dude.
