Please let me know where the double posts are

Post by Adminlizzieborden »

I hope the double triple and quadruple posting problem was linked to the email issue, which is now resolved. If you run across any double posts or OOPS posts, please hit the REPORT button so I can find them. That way while you are reading the forum you can help me out! Much thanks!

REMEMBER: only hit the submit button once to post, even when you think it didn't take, give it a moment to make sure you haven't sent the command in already. Don't double click! Thanks!

It would be better to have a "delete this" option so the author could flag it for deletion. It would not be immediate in case of a misteak.
It was Farmer William in the Bedroom with the Hatchet.

Thank you Stef for wanting to correct the cause and not just the symptom !

I have my own "Oopps" to report, Stefani. It is in the "Links" section under "What American English Do You Speak." When I didn't think my post went through, when I got the "Debug Mode" pop up, I hit the refresh button. I've done that before. I guess I'm just a perpetual idiot. Shame on me.

It would be cool if we had our own "delete" or "report" button so we could delete ourselves.

I tried to get a mod that would add a delete post button for users but have failed to find one. I will keep looking. I don't mind doing it myself, but it would be nicer if you could do it. Have you seen them on other forums? I haven't. It might be a security thing.

Yes Stef, it makes sense it would be a scurity deal. Maybe there is something somewhere like our "edit" button...where only the author of that post has access to it. However, remember I am a techno-dork...so I may not realize that what I am saying is a dumb idea.

Yes, that is what I was thinking of, a button that would allow us to completely delete our own post especially if it is a double post. It would eliminate having to "oops" a double. I don't know anything about the tech end of it though. Angela Bennett I'm not.

Well if you could do it then you could log in as somebody else if you had their username and password and wreak havoc. I think the deletion of posts is reserved strictly for a moderator/administrator level status. Now that I really think about it, it makes total sense.

I had not thought of that. If someone did steal my password and logon they could do who-knows-what to my posts. They could make me look like a complete jackass, even more than I am now. That shows how little I know about computer technology. I guess the stuff in "The Net" can really happen.

Thank you, Stefani.
