While I was searching the Barnes and Noble website for more Lizzie books, I came across this book titled: "Girl in the House of Hate" by Charles Samuels.

Has anyone read this book? Is it any good?

I have never even heard of it, Snokks. I will keep an eye out for it and let you know what I think.

IMO it is a waste except the cover is good.
(One can look for the question elsewhere around here, whoever wants to know more...)

Sometimes this site moves a bit slow and we have a tendency to hit the "Submit" button a second time or the "refresh" button on our browsers. Either action Snokks will create a double post. Not that I have ever done that you understand...

I always hit the "Preview" button first. When I see the "Preview" box above the box that we type our messages in I know I have not yet hit the "Submit" button. After checking my spelling (lost cause) and I'm happy with my comments I then hit the "Submit" button and then I take my hands off the keyboard and wait. When I see my pretty face show up I know my post has been added to the forum. Following these steps I find I no longer double post. For me it's a matter of following step 1, 2, 3, etc.

As Kat says, the cover is good but it's all downhill after that. Save your money unless you're a collector of all things Borden. There's a lot of trial transcription, not necessarily recorded accurately

It is one of a series of at least 6 murder trial books put out by Gold Medal Books in the 1950's. All titles began with the words "The Girl in ....".

Other titles were:

The Girl in the Stateroom - the murder of an actress aboard a ship.

The Girl in the red Velvet Swing - Stanford White murder by Harry Thaw.

The Girl in the Death Cell - Judd Gray and Ruth Snyder

The Girl in Lover's Lane - the Hall-Mills case

The Girl in Poison Cottage - the poisoning death of Ada Applegate

The Girl in the Red Velvet Swing was hot stuff though- and so was Evelyn Nesbit! No wonder poor Harry was jealous of Stanford. Good thing Mamma Thaw had big bucks for his defense too. I wonder what other great buildings Stanford White might have designed had lust not gotten in the way!

A young (about 23 yrs old) Joan Collins was fetching in the film of the same name, which is enjoyable. Also, the fatal love triangle is featured in the book and film version of "Ragtime." I believe Elizabeth McGovern played Evelyn in that.

Lately I have been getting the strange feeling that I have commented on a duplicate thread before but I'm never sure if it was a duplicate or just very similar. I was beginning to think it was old age. I'll have to start making a list of topics so I can avoid repeating myself or going through the hassle of opening my profile and scanning through my previous comments for duplicate threads.
