Beware of Petting Strange Dogs!

Post by 1bigsteve »

A friend of mine was petting a strange dog owned by her grown son when it jumped up and bit her in the forehead. She looks like a wreck with the left side of her face blue and yellow. It took 19 stitches to close the wound in her forehead and 5 stitches in her left hand.

It was a pit bull but it could have been any breed of dog. The dog is going to be killed. It is a reminder for all of us to be wary of strange animals, even one owned by a family member. She is very fortunate she did not lose an eye.

So please be careful out there around strange animals. You never know what they are thinking.

I hope she recovers well. You are so right in saying that it could be ANY breed of dog to do something like that. Even the most docile one in the world can turn on someone for no reason.

Sometimes the owners are worse than the dogs. On two occasions I have seen men explode at people who were petting their dogs. Though I think both these owners (if they were not the same man) behaved abominably, I have decided never to pet a strange dog except in the presence of the owner and with his permission.
A man ... wants to give his wife ... the interest in a little homestead where her sister lives. How wicked to have found fault with it. How petty to have found fault with it. (Hosea Knowlton in his closing argument.)
