A trial date has been set for the case between the Lizzie Borden B&B and the Lizzie Borden exhibit in Salem.

See http://lizzieandrewborden.com/MondoLizzie/ for the details.

a JURY trial. Wonder if they will deliberate for less than an hour and acquit? Will history repeat itself? This is fascinating stuff. I will have all the latest news on Mondo. I have all the court documents and am currently putting together a PDF of the relevant filings. Sometime this weekend I will post it on MondoLizzie for download.

I've served twice on juries for civil cases. Both were settled before we were handed the case. In both I thought the animosity between the parties was sufficient enough for the case to go to a decision, but they settled somehow. There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes that we are not privy to.

We loved it, got us off jury duty early.

The AP and the Fall River Herald News are both reporting that the trial date has NOT been set yet. On my blog, I quoted the court recorded notice and it read (to me) that the trial was to start Monday. However, the way the court recorded this as "not earlier than Monday, September 29, at 9AM" is probably legalese for not tomorrow but sometime in the future.

So the court did not rule on the B&Bs request to have Salem stop using the museum moniker, and put it into the trial. The B&B did not get the immediate relief they sought.

Now the question becomes, who gets subpoenas to testify. That list should be interesting.

When I have more details I will post them on MondoLizzie.
