health problems
I got to thinking about this this week. This week I have had to stay home from work with my blood pressure, even got put in the hospital for a couple of days,.
So, what I was wondering, other than her gall bladder surgery later in life, did lizzie have any cronic illnesses, like blood pressure or diabeties? Anyone know?

Gee, snokkums! I hope you get-well-soon!
I've often wondered about how bad Lizzie's gall bladder trouble was to get her finally to have surgery, and for how long she suffered. I think Augusta here pointed out a news item that claimed Lizzie had heart disease over time??
Oh here it is:
Sourcebook, June 2, 1927, "Lizzie Borden Dead"- page 330:
"Death was due to heart disease...She had been in poor health for some years..."

Who said Lizzie Borden died of gall bladder problems?
If one does his/her research you will discover she died of a heart attack.
Proof of that is in the photo below, right out of Barbara Silveria's book The Dark Side of Lizzie Borden.
See?

Lizzie's gall blader is the only health issue that I have ever heard Lizzie having. Being that she lived into her '60s she probably had other health problems as well.

Keep an eye on your BP Snokks. It's nothing to fool around with or take for granted. High or low it can be a killer. Proper diet and daily exercise.

One of the biggest killers of survivors from surgery is a condition called "COMPLICATIONS".
Complications from surgery is a serious problem today and must have been a much dire factor in Lizzie's day.
Lizzie died of complications from surgery.
The condition which finally did her in was complications of the heart caused by surgery, or as is written on her death certificate, "MYOCARDITIS".
Myocarditis is an inflammation of the heart which may be caused by infection, or as is common in third world countries, a virus.
Did Lizzie have myocarditis before the operation?
Was it a life threatening condition, before the operation?
If Lizzie had a healthy heart which was strained by an operation, or caused by a condition which she did not have before the operation, such as an infection or virus concluding in myocarditis, or worsening an existing myocarditis condition shorting her life, can we conclude that she died of a heart attack?
If she did not have the gall bladder condition, could she have lived several years more?
We all die from something and what ever it is that kills us concludes with the heart stopping.
(I have a friend with a wife who died at 35. She had lung cancer and was on a vigorous campaign to beat it. After several years she finally beat it. A year later she died of liver disease........caused by all the medication she took for her cancer. What did she die from; the cancer or liver disease?)
Are we splitting hairs?
Was it a coincidence that Lizbeth had an operation just before she died of myocarditis?
My conclusion is that Lizzie died from complications from surgery. The gall bladder surgery killed Lizzie Borden, not her heart.
Or at least that is how I see it.

I think Lizzie died about a year after her gall bladder surgery. I have read that she never really recovered from that surgery. But, mb, she may not have recovered from that surgery because of her bad heart.
Kat, your memory is phenomenal. I remembered I had posted that and was gonna look it up, but I remembered probably because I was the one who posted it. Thanks for posting it on this thread.
I remember reading somewhere that in the end Lizzie had pneumonia.
BTW, it turns out that Truesdale Hospital was a plush hospital for the wealthy. Figures, Lizzie would have the very best.
I wonder if the room she died in still exists.
