Well I am being treated to a free concert tonight just by sitting out on my front porch. Its 10pm and still 92 degrees out with a nice breeze blowing. The concert is over at the AT&T/Jones Stadium where the Texas Tech. Red Raiders play football. I live right near there. The concert features 3 great singers.......John Mellencamp, Bob Dylan, and Willie Nelson.

Also, I am looking forward to Sept. 10-13, 2009 when Lubbock again will be host to the National Cowboy Symposium. I especial like the chuck wagon cookoff......thats some "good eating". Gives you a taste of the old west. Plus it is a chance for the ladies....and the gents to dress up in turn of the century clothing here in Lubbock and all the chuck wagons are original chuck wagons used in the mid to late 1800's.

Yes, Cool. That trio just played at Pawtucket, R.I. a little over a week ago. My friend Pat went to see them. Her interest was Bob Dylan.

When I was an adolescent, Bob Dylan was just coming into his own. He was Ok. I was into Donovan.

Sunshine came softly through my a-window today
Could've tripped out easy a-but I've a-changed my ways
It'll take time, I know it but in a while
You're gonna be mine, I know it, we'll do it in style
'Cause I made my mind up you're going to be mine

Lucky you, Steve. John Cougar Mellencamp has always been one of my favorites. My brother lives in Savannah, GA, but works off Hilton Head Island, SC. He has run into him a couple times as he has a home there. Said he was a real down to earth fellow, just like his music.

This is me today at the 21st annual Cowboy Symposium here in Lubbock, Tx. I am standing in front of the chuckwagon I ate at. Chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, country gravy, sweet bread, pecos beans, and hot apple cobbler, all cooked over an open fire....YUM! Doesn't this Fall River boy make an excellent cowboy? I feel like Uncle John today.

Cool shot Steve.

If you went without shaving for a couple of days, and threw some dirt and bleach on those jeans, you would look just like one of the cowboys on Gunsmoke today.

Today was the anniversary of BONANZA. 50 years today.

Back in the 50s, out of the top 25 TV shows 12 (half) of them were westerns.

Today, it is almost impossible to find a rerun let alone having one rate.
