If anyone is interested, the Discovery channel had a really good show on last night about James Kelly possibly being Jack the Ripper. It is scheduled again for this evening. A detective has investigated this man extensively and is convinced that he has solved the identity of Jack. Kelly was a man in England at the time who stabbed his wife of one month and killed her. He wound up in a lunatic asylum from which he cleverly excaped. Shortly thereafter the Whitechapel murders occurred. He then went on to France and eventually to the United States where extremely similar murders occurred. This detective found that Kelly moved around, as serial murderers seem to do, from New York, Baltimore, Florida, Texas, San Francisco, etc., and in all the places he went, there were similar murders. Each newspaper from the cities where the murders occurred would ask if it was the Ripper because of the same M. O. Kelly eventually went back to England where he showed up in 1927 back at the Asylum. He stayed there until he died in 1929. The detective found that he now had access to the files at the Asylum and Kelly himself had written about his travels, etc., so the detective could verify that he had been in all these places at the right time, which could hardly be coinidental. If you have a chance, watch the show.
