I have been behind on things. I recently ordered printed copies of the November 2008 and the Spring 2009 Issues. The Issues arrived yesterday.

YES, Though I have access to the Hatchet on line, I prefer to wait for the hard copy before reading it.

Reading to much print on this tube make my eyes go gaga.......not to mention the head ache.

Yes, Kat. I just picked out the face of the screaming women on the back cover of the Hatchet. Funny. I spent so much time playing with that photo, trying to get it to look just so, and I never noticed the screaming women in the trees.

Spooky........the way she is facing the Borden house. Also, whether it is a screaming man or women, which may be in the eye of the beholder, it appears like he/she is shocked by the presence of the house. I will forever think of that photo as the "Screaming Borden House Photo."

Here is a bigger image of the face. Though you probably need to stand back, away from the screen to bring it in, and see it better.

Theres also a screaming face that looks like the "Home Alone" kid in the bottom left window. Is that supposed to be there?

SteveS., I see what you mean-- maybe it's just one of those weird (and in this case, highly apropos) happenstances.

Yes, as I mentioned above. I was going to wait for my copy of the Hatchet to arrive in the mail before reading it, but I could not help myself and took a peek.

If you haven't begun reading it yet, go directly to Dear Abby, Sherry Chapman piece first..........a short read and real funny stuff, really.

OMG...I remember the 1st time I read about Abby & Andrew in the Chinese restaurant, I couldn't stop laughing for about 1/2 an hour!

It looks like there's some really good stuff in this issue. I'm glad Kat reviewed that new (to me, anyway) book. I look forward to reading that. Some other articles look intriguing.

I'm like mb - I wait to read it until I get a hard copy version. These are really beautiful magazines in print - and online. They are all always extremely well done, both in content and design. I look forward to many, many more excellent years of 'The Hatchet'.

In the article by Michael Brimbau, in this issue of the Hatchet, about the Borden House and crime, he mentions the Gunn Estate. I thought I would post a post card of the actual building. (not sure I have done this before. If so, please forgive.)

Below is a post card of the Gunn Estate. Torn down in 1910 (?) to build the second district court which stands today. The building faced Bedford Street. The side view you see is from Rock Street.

Interesting, non-the-less.
