No jury duty

I was on standby for jury duty on Monday at New Bedford Superior Court. There's a murder trial going on there, though, and defense arguments are expected to continue into next week. (A woman accused of shooting her husband.)

My panel of jurors got canceled, so I don't have to report.

I would love to serve on a jury-- but alas... I am not a citizen (yet).......

Is that the Tolan murder? I've been following that case. It's interesting so far.

I'd be so disappointed not to be called!
I hadn't heard of this case, but just from a quick look at that article, I'm reminded of the 1988 Barbara and Russ Stager case in Durham NC -- she claimed her husband kept a gun under his pillow and she accidentally shot him with it. But that didn't sit too well after police found out her first husband had also been accidentally shot to death in his bed.

I would not have been on the Tolan trial jury, although that certainly would have been interesting. My date to serve was to be this coming Monday, the 8th, and that has been canceled because the Tolan case is still going on.
I've been reading about the Tolan case during the trial this week, but for some reason I don't remember the shooting when it happened two years ago. If I had been in that jury pool, at least I wouldn't have been prejudiced by any prior knowledge.
