Impending Blizzard

Post by kssunflower »

I'm off work today as our area is expecting heavy snowfall amounts. It has been snowing since 6 am with very gusty winds. Yesterday we had sleet most of the day, which made it an adventure getting anywhere. Anybody else in the grip of this storm?

A doozy indeed. The KC metro area is at a standstill. Just went to get the mail from the box by the street and the snow is above knee high and falling fast.

You must live across the state from me. Patsy! It's strange the way the snow/ice went. My son lives in southern Illinois, and that's what he got too, ice. Today it's cold 1 degree with a wind chill of -12 but the suns shining.

Yes probably so. It snowed most of the day here today and a lot of the ice is still hanging around. So many tree branches down in our area. Huge limbs snapped off one of mine in the front. Hope it can be saved.

Stay warm

We had a total of 11 inches and subzero temps that night. Columbia Missouri had it much worse - over 20 inches!

We ended up with about 18 inches, ugh! With some really nice drifts, thanks to the 30 mph wind with 40 mph gusts.

Ain't winter wonderful?! The middle of November, deer hunting season, everyone wants a couple inches of tracking snow. The end of December, everyone wants snow for Christmas. Groundhog Day rolls around and we hear about all the %$#@! snow! It happens every year!

The complaining yes I guess so.

It reminds me of the piece about the southerner who moved north and started out loving the snow until. . . all that followed had increasingly graphic language.

lol The middle of November, I would just as soon give the deer a bit of an advantage, by not having their every move written in the #$!%^ snow and it would deffinatly make it more of a challenge for the hunters. Ah yes Christmas, must have snow for Christmas!! Starting on Christmas Eve, nice big. beautiful flakes, falling and reflecting the lights of the Christmas tree's! And come Christmas night, at exactly midnight, all ONE inch of it gone!! By Groundhog Day, he should know Springs coming by all the birds singing and the flower's blooming!! I know wishful thinking! So, I'll quit complaining about the snow. (till the next one)

No need to quit complaining, it's probably the #1 winter sport! I'm sure I'll do my share of complaining before we're finished with winter, plenty of time left. Around here, there's two seasons, Winter, and Tough Sledding. We're fair game for a snowstorm from October 15th until May 15th.

I love the four season's and can't imagine living anywhere where you didn't have them. To tell the truth, I'm getting tired of one season, just as it changes into another. So, I'm just as liable to complain about the other's as they are about to change to the next! You all must be a hearty lot up that way!!! Winter, of the four, is the most challenging, and over half of the year is pretty much winter up there. My hat's off to ya!!!
