Surprise there is no talk here about "Lizzie Anthony" down in Florida.

The hoards of people hanging like pariahs outside the courthouse can probably be compared to those in Lizzie's trial; except that in Lizzie's day these loonies were split, some thinking her guilty, some innocent.

Here everyone believes she is guilty.

The big talk in this trial is about whether they can give a women the death penalty. A question that may affect the jury's decision. Same was true in 1893.

It struck me that Casey's mom saying that SHE trolled the Internet for chloroform info reminded me an awful lot of Emma's "Oh, I told Lizzie to burn the dress!" And it seems to have helped.

It is down right uncanny how much the Anthony case resembles the Borden case. I was not a bit surprised that Casey Anthony was acquitted.

I believe they lost the case because they over charged based on the evidence they had. First degree requires a pretty strong case which they never had. Once that collapsed charges 2 & 3, similar in nature, went with it. I thought I heard they originally withdrew #1 and later reinserted it.

I agree Judy, there are many similarities with the Borden case. That both are certainly guilty of something being the most likely. No Maplecroft for Casey tho.

Let's see how long she stays out of future trouble. Another O.J.?

I firmly believe prosecutors need to simplify, simplify, simplify-- and condense. If you can't make your case in three days, you're going to lose the jury. They're going to start to think that you're grandstanding, that you don't really have enough evidence (whether you do or not) to convince them of guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. I haven't read the transcript of the Casey Anthony trial, of course, but I understand that the prosecution never pinpointed a motive!!!

Say what??? You've GOT to at least suggest one. Or two or three.

I'm wondering if the jury didn't retaliate for being held for so long, or if they succumbed to a sort of Stockholm Syndrome, sympathizing with the defendant.

I remember when Martha Stewart was tried, several of the jury members came right out and said that they didn't want deliberation of the case to ruin their weekend, so they quickly came to a "guilty" verdict that Friday afternoon.

True justice by a jury of one's peers. Yeah, right!

BTW: Some pix of C.A. listening to the verdict looked eerily similar to Miss Lizzie. Those eyes.

Well, it's true that there isn't a Maplecroft for Casey, yet. I found the following link which, in part, states:

“I would not be surprised, given the notoriety and infamy of the case, if Casey gets $1 million to give a full interview,” California defense attorney and legal analyst David Wohl told Fox News.

Florida law prohibits a person convicted of a crime from profiting from that crime. But in the Anthony case, she wasn't convicted of murder and so should be free to talk about aspects of her daughter's death, said Fort Lauderdale criminal attorney William Moore, senior partner at Alitowski & Moore.

Anthony reportedly has already been approached to star in a porn film.

If she actually becomes wealthy, she could very well have a Maplecroft, too. (Another Borden similarity!)

The thing that really got to me was the fact that Casey is said to have been a ‘good mother’, yet, for 31 days after she knew her daughter was dead, she partied up a storm. This is not my idea of a ‘good mother’. IMO, this is down right cold heartedness.

Did Casey attempt to seek out what happened to her daughter? Did she show any signs of depression over the fact that her daughter was dead? No she partied hard!

Her behavior was described as ‘bizarre’, and the explanation we are given is that the family was very dysfunctional. Because they were so dysfunctional, that was the norm for them.

Well, Emma and Lizzie didn't continue to seek out the killer of Andrew and Abby, either. Did they show any signs of being depressed over the deaths of these two people? No, they went out and purchased Maplecroft!

Unfortunately, the prosecution failed to prove their case. There was nothing presented as to how Caylee died, nor was there anything presented as a motive. Without these two major things, there was definitely reasonable doubt. They jury really had no other choice but to acquit.

As with the Borden case, the Anthony case was lost with some aid from the police. Arrogance and falling on the job.

They waited over 3 months before following up the tip given by the meter reader Roy Kronk.

He had called three times and was ignored.........and called again 4 months later with the same report before his tip was given attention.

If they had discovered the babies body in August instead of December much proof could have been discovered.....enough to convict someone.

As in many other cases, the weakest link is the police.

You can't convince me that Fleet did not take the axe handle with him. He tampered with the Borden Crime scene. It must have been clean of blood, or did not match the axe, or something. For what ever reason, I believe Fleet stole the axe handle, he took it. I believe Michael Mullaly.

There was an editorial cartoon in today's NY Daily News showing Ms. Anthony calling O.J. to help her find the real killer. On the wall behind her are the framed poster from THE BAD SEED, and a signed photo from "Lizzy (sic) Borden."

Well, people always talk about how Lizzie became a social pariah. One can only hope most people have sense enough to shun Casey Anthony. I personally will not endorse, watch, read anything from which she personally profits.

I wonder if her fellow inmates will take exception to the outcome of the trial during the next week or so?
