Let's take a vote...

Ok, let's vote. I assume most of us on the site have put a lot of thought into this, else we wouldn't be here.
I know Franz believes Morse did it, with help.
I believe Lizzie did it, maybe with one accomplice, but highly doubtful.
Allen, I know you think Lizzie did it,
Darrowfan, You also.
Nanycy Drew, You have weighed in saying you believe Lizzie guilty.
Anyone else? What does your gut tell you? NOT whether we can PROVE it, obviously we can't, but who actually did it?
You long-timers...has the majority here always thought Lizzie did it?

Actually, Possum, I go back and forth on Lizzie's guilt. Sometimes I'm convinced she did it. The means, motive and opportunity point so STRONGLY to Lizzie.
But when I read the archived posts here...specifically the ones by the member who called herself "Grandma" I began to question my conclusions. I assume she died, since she no longer posts, and was obviously advanced in age. Her comments are so believable. I'm going to try and find them all, and perhaps some of the experts would indulge me, and comment on them. Allen is the most knowledgeable, in my opinion, regarding facts surrounding the case, legalities involved, backgrounds of the major players, etc. She's really done her homework, and then some. I'd like to know her thoughts on the 'Grandma' posts (which all support the assertion that Dave Anthony was the murderer.)

There are a number of questionnaire survey in the previous threads, I don't know how to do it. The administration board can help us, I think.
The question could be: in your opinion, who was the guilty in the Borden case?
1. Lizzie alone
2. Lizzie did it with an accomplice helping her
3. Lizzie, with an accomplice who killed
4. Morse organized the murder, with conspirator(s) who killed
5. etc, etc.
10. another one (please precise): _______

Yes NancyDrew, reading old posts is very constructive, and meanwhile a great pleasure.
I don't konw if you noticed as well, that among the old timers of the forum, there were a number of persons who thought the guilty was another than Lizzie, but they haven't posted after a long time.

Personally I feel that Lizzie was innocent but that she knew the killer and maybe even helped him/her. Dave Anthony (who we know very little about)? Bill Borden? Who knows, but this is MY guess (and believe me, it is JUST a guess)!

I go back and forth with her guilt too but for the most of the time I think she did do it and act alone. My problem with her having an accomplice or knowing who did, why didn't she say something when she was being accused? I know for me, that if I saw who did it, I wouldn't be keeping my mouth shut when the police were pointing their fingers at me. The same way with an accomplice. I wouldn't be going down by myself if someone else was involved.

That's a good point, snokkums.

The old adage--- the only way 2 can keep a secret is if one of them is dead..... This is why I have so many problems with conspiracy theories and multiple participants.
That said, I do think Emma would have kept the secret-- but not Bridget.

You're right, we can't prove it but I DON"T feel Lizzie did it.

I do believe Lizzie did it simply because the timing of the first murder is right, with the second murder it's tight but do-able. The lies that Lizzie told straight after Andrew's murder, her stories that changed with whoever she was speaking to, her urging others to go and find Abby, many things....

I do agree that her testimony changed but did anyone correct it or ask her why she kept changing things? But wouldn't you think that the shock of finding a family member brutally murdered (as opposed to just being dead of a heart attack) would cause one to not remember things clearly or change things because of a faulty mind? Also, she was being drugged by the good ol' doc.
