Would Emma/Lizzie have protected Bridget?

Like Anthony's post, do you think Emma or Lizzie would have protected Bridget either right out or by omission if they suspected Bridget to be the killer? Why or why not?

It depends on what evidence they had against her. I expect they both mildly liked Bridget but I don't think there was any deep emotional connection between them and her. Not enough anyway that they would have protected her if they believed that she had bumped their parents off.
It would have had to have been more than a suspicion actually, as, to do her credit, Lizzie was firm in telling the police that Bridget had nothing to do with the murders in her opinion. She never cast aspersions at any time on Bridget.
I believe both would have regarded it as their duty to tell the police all they knew in that situation. I think they would have been quite surprised as Bridget liked Abby and didn't mind Andrew, who at least called her by her right name!

Good question, MysteryReader! I have to agree with Curryong's answer.

If Bridget had actually been guilty, I think they would have cooperated with the investigation against her.

What did either of them have to gain by not implicating Bridget if she were the murderess? They had much more to lose by allowing Lizzie to go on trial for a capital crime that Bridget committed.

Nothing at all if they weren't in a conspiracy together as per CuriousMind's theory.
I see the search for the missing Malaysian airliner has sunk below the horizon, debbie. Personally, I'm waiting for the book! I hope all the passengers' relatives are receiving some so-called compensation.

I've lived through two inexplicable tragedies in my life, but both of them had closure. I cannot imagine how the families feel. Didn't realize how close that area is to the end of the earth until this happened. I'm guessing there will be bookS, as in dozens!!

Hi Anthony,
You know I am of an opinion that Lizzie, Emma, Bridget and Uncle Morse were all involved in this murder in some capacity. Read the Fantastic Four Theory to learn more about my perspective. I am not saying that I am 100% sure of it! But I find it more believable that Lizzie alone was not a part of this plan.
Given my perspective, if Bridget was involved, I can definitely see Lizzie not being suspicious of her (implying Lizzie is involved too). As the saying goes, I believe they would have "Scratched each other's back". I believe Lizzie got so much of attention because she had no proper Alibi, she screwed up big time. No wonder she needed morphine to calm her nerves. Bridget, probably decided to stick with Lizzie's original story. However, we can never verify the same.
