I found this pair of handcrafted photo frames, very old I think, with many interesting details. Do you like them? I do.

I love them, Franz. Do you know about when they were made?

MysteryReader, I am happy that you love them.
I am not sure for the production time. Maybe ante 1950?

I think those are right trapezoids, unlike any frames I've ever seen. Are there any markings anywhere/inside?

Those are beautiful, Franz.
Handmade for sure.
The measurement of design, when made by a machine, are precise, accurate, and detailed.
Here the design is mismatched, the fingerprint of human hands, the signature of independent thinking and motif.
They may indeed be from the 50s but they do look older.
Good find, Franz.

I also think they're older than the 50s and look sort of Egyptian Art Nouveau...

...which means I'm both clueless and curious.

Those frames are gorgeous, Franz! I agree, they are handmade, and by a very talented artist I might add. I also think they are appear to be older than the 1950s.

There isn't any marking, Debbiediablo.
Me too I think it might be older. Maybe 1920s or 30s?
(You are right, Debbie, there is something of Art Nouveau, not really I think but something of that kind.)

With nothing whatsoever to support my opinion, I would agree with 1920s or 30s. The floral motif reminds me of Art Nouveau and the squareness of the exterior brings to mind Gustav Stickley. But I have yet to find anything anywhere that looks even remotely like them. And not for lack of looking!
There are lots of online forums and sites that help people identify their newly found treasures.

Well done, Frnaz.
But I would replace the ladies with two of my all time favorite old world actresses.
Always thought they were beautiful.
No movie stars today can compare......

Gaslight is one of my all-time favorite movies: however, if I were choosing actresses for sheer talent #2 would be Susan Sarandon and #1 would be Meryl Streep by a mile....

I love them and they don't seem to have the look of anything 50s to me either. Maybe earlier folk art and done very well. The ladies are all lovely, but I'd put a couple of fine looking guys in them if they were mine. Talking like Robert Taylor of back in the day or Mads Mikkelsen who is quite hot on the danish scene now.

You are right patsy. It seems to me that these two frames were made as a couple: the right one in the first picture --- slightly larger --- might be for a gentilman's photo and the left one for that of a lady.
