Bridget's job before trial?
I thought I read somewhere that Bridget had a job at the jail before the trial began? Was she a domestic for the warden? And was this in Fall River or Taunton? I just remember she was not thrilled that she received her mail w the address of the jail associated w it.

Yes LABRhush:
This information came out in the trial when Bridget testified.
She was asked about here recent whereabouts, etc. She informed the court that she was living at the sheriffs house, doing cleaning and cooking, etc. I believe the sheriff's name was Wright? The sheriff of the Jail and Bristol County. Andrew me thinks. He escorted Lizzie from the jail to the courthouse and was court bailiff during the trial.
It is interesting to point out that when you live in someone's house for a while everyone becomes somewhat intimate.
(You hear stories about how prison mates talk, and how one prisoner confesses what he knows or what he did to the other.)
Makes me wonder how close the sheriff got to Bridget and what she told him.
We can only surmise.

Thanks, Mbhenty! So does Bristol county cover Taunton? You'll have to excuse the southerner here, ha. Im down in Texas. So I guess Bridget left after the aquittal? Do we know where? I heard she went back to Ireland for a bit, then ended up in Anaconda?

Yes, LABRhush:
Taunton is the county seat. Not up on these things but there should be three county superior courthouses. One in Taunton, New Bedford, and Fall River. Must confess to ignorance to why the Borden trail did not take place in fall river. The fall river courthouse was built in the late 1880s. Bristol county encompasses about 20 cities and towns. The largest being New Bedford, followed by fall river, then Taunton.
Some time after the trial Bridget did visit Ireland. Of course there are many conspiracy tales about where she came up with the money or why she even returned to Ireland. (But she did not buy land or a farm as some have claimed. Commoners were unable to own land in Ireland at the time. Most land was in the hands of wealthy land owners. Ireland went through several Land Acts in the 19th century up until 1922 when they gained independence. Don't really know my Irish history but there is no proof that Bridget purchased property in Ireland. She did have a large family. A visit was probably overdue. Especially after all the grief of the Borden murders. But she must have come into some money. Or perhaps was just a good saver.) But she did not stay long and soon was back in the States and living in Butte, Montana in a large Irish community (mining copper country) and married a guy named Sullivan.
I had a friend who's last name was Miranda. He married a girl who's last name was also Miranda. I remember being a young man and thinking that was so cool. I became a believer at the time, as today, that woman should keep their family name. Never understood why they would take their husband's name. Especially after divorce. I had one friend who was married five times. She had five last names. Such is common practice. Absurd!
But then again, so am I.

Lol. Yeah... I thought Bridget kept the effort to a minimum marrying a man named Sullivan. And I agree about keeping the name ha. I never did subscribe to the "Lizzie paid her off" trip back to Ireland theory. I wish we knew more about Bridget before and after her time with the Bordens!

I wouldn't blame her for popping off the grid after that. A renown family gets hacked to death in Falls River, and she very narrowly gets convicted for a crime she didn't commit? I'd be on the first train out after that.
