Liz in the hospital
Does anyone have links to newspaper articles at the time when Lizzie went into the hospital for her gallbladder?

Re: Liz in the hospital

Sorry I am not supplying you with any newspaper information on Lizzie's operation.
But it was sometime in early February of 1926 (Feb 2 ?) that she went in for her gallbladder operation, which at the time was a tricky operation, unlike today which is routine. If you remember, she checked into the hospital as Mary Smith Borden. Dr. Trusedale who operated on her knew who she was but the medical staff, including an assistant doctor who helped with the operation, did not know.
Many are under the impression that Lizzie died from complications from her gallbladder operation, which is not true. Though it could have weakened her. But she actually died over a year later and from heart problems. Her official death blow came in the way of Myocarditis or inflammation of the heart. So Lizzie actually had a bad heart. Her gallbladder operation was in Feb. of 26 and she died on June of 27.
There's a good account of Lizzie's health during that period in Parallel Lives.

Very helpful, Mbhenty! Thank you. I enjoy such great insight. I thought I read somewhere that despite going in under the different name that the papers found her out anyway?
