Andrew's missing parcel

My mind keeps circling back to the missing parcel that Andrew brought home the day of his murder and that appears to have gone missing. Seems like it went missing for a reason unless Andrew tossed it in the stove fire on the way up to his room.

I've read several sources to retrace Andrew's 9-10:40 walk that Thursday morning and trying to imagine where he got and what was in the parcel. As with other unknowns, it is a puzzle why the police didn't focus on identifying where he got the parcel and therefore gaining an idea of what it was. I can't find anywhere where the police specifically asked witnesses about the parcel or where their statements suggest Andrew acquired a parcel within their establishment.

If Andrew did get a haircut/shave that morning, I'm presuming it was on the way to the Post Office. Does anyone with 1892 map knowledge know if Pierre Leduc's barbershop was located 'on the way' from the Borden home to the Post office? I think that is the only unaccounted for time once Andrew visited the Union Savings Bank around 9:30ish.

My assumption is that Andrew got the parcel at the Post Office....until the end of his journey, no witnesses mention it.

Would love to hear any ideas the forum has on what the parcel was and where he acquired it.
