Lizzie Borden Society Forum

Hi all, I have been a lurker of this forum for a couple of months now and I have really enjoyed reading about everyone’s theories and thoughts about the case.

This question popped into my mind when I was looking into Lizzie books online. In the past, I have seen some strange books like Sherlock Holmes being inserted into the case, or a book arguing that Emma was the culprit. However, nothing that I have seen beats the Lizzie Borden Zombie Hunter series, I say trilogy, but the third book focuses on Dr Bowen of all people and has the amusing description of:

‘A supernatural tie-in to the book, Lizzie Borden, Zombie Hunter, but without the zombies.’

Whether that means that they have changed universe for this book or have defeated all the zombies by this point, I do not know.

Although I do admit, I almost want to buy the books now due to curiosity. They actually seem to have good reviews.

Anybody else seen any other strange Lizzie media floating around?

I'm not much help on your question...I tend to keep my reading to original source documents or fact based books like, "The Case Against Lizzie Borden" by William Spencer.

I visited the Borden home last September and a major theme for the B&B is the haunted/ghost aspect. You might check the B&B's website to see what they have that might match up with your question.

Thanks for the welcome! Of course, I do read from reliable sources and would never take anything I mentioned as fact, I just think it’s amusing to look into. I have heard about the ghost rumours, however, I do not personally believe in the paranormal, so I usually do not look into them. I did, however, watch that one Dead Files episode after hearing users here discuss how bad it was. I suppose the part that angers me the most about it is that your average watcher of the show will take everything in that episode as fact when it contained many errors about the Borden family and the case

I hear you. I also experience the frustration of reading or watching something about the Borden case and the information is rife with errors or myths. Actually it happens to me on everything I've ever watched on youtube and almost all books. I'm in the middle of reading two Borden books now, one is pro Lizzie and the other anti. They both provide lots of information, but also a lot of narrative in support of their theories and an equally prevalent amount of omission of evidence that contradicts their theories.

That is why I try to stay away from anything that isn't almost purely the original source documents or contemporary information, like newspaper articles. The newspapers get a lot of grief from Bordenites because of reporting errors and the October 10 Boston Globe story fabrication. But newspapers provide a tremendous amount of context and depth that isn't available elsewhere. And I've found that very often, newspaper insights can be double or triple checked against other sources, thus validating the new insights.

Back to your point, yes, so much make believe is dispensed about the case and it is beyond frustrating.

Care to share a interesting newspaper story that surprised you about the case?

The Alice Dean article from 73 was a good one for me.
